Halo 3: Cortana - Mcfarlane Toys Series 1

Presenting Halo's Cortana  from McFarlane Toys Halo 3 Series 1 collection.  If you've played any of the three original Halo games or even read the novels, then you should be quite familiar with the AI sidekick of the Spartan Master Chief - although everybody would probably agree that technically, the Master Chief is the haughty Cortana's  muscle sidekick. The McFarlane Halo 3 Series Cortana  stands approximately 4.5 - inches tall - taller than your average G.I. Joe figure - not including the base. Cortana  has absolutely NO articulation. Cortana  is  just sculpted in her sexy, no-nonsense "I'm hot and I know it and oh I'm better than you" pose." She is sculpted out of semi-translucent blue plastic with darker symbols tattooed over her body that reflect her "thought processes."

Cortana's base - commonly seen in the video game as the source of Cortana's projections has three blue diodes that project light to the translucent figure resulting in the impression that Cortana is a projection rather than a sculpt.

Of course the diodes and the sculpt have a... little problem. As you can see from the image, they kinda center in her womb. Which I suppose considering the sexual tension between the Master Chief and Cortana is just appropriate. Players of the game cannot deny that the dialogue between the two betrays their feeling for each other. Makes me wonder if the Master Chief is aware that because Cortana is so advanced she's destined to die in seven years due to "Hyper-thinking." Chances are good that if the Master Chief is ever recovered from his hibernation in deep space is that he will be greeted by a dying Cortana. But I suppose the love story of a genetically engineered cyborg and mad computer program is meant to be a tragic one.
Cortana's original design was inspired by the Eygptian Queen Nefertiti. Cortana's personality is based upon the brain patterns of the mother of the Spartan program Dr. Catherine Halsey - although Dr Halsey can be a bit of a bad ass (Even the giant Noble 5-  Spartan Jorge calls her mom and she dresses him down about what he did to his armor in the video game), I really don't see Cortana's personality in her - but then Cortana has the ability to learn and adapt so I suppose we can say that the Master Chief has been a bad influence.
At the opening of Halo 3, Cortana had the following to say about her Spartan Master Chief. "They let me pick, did I ever tell you that? Choose whichever Spartan I wanted. You know me. I did my research. Watched as you became the soldier we needed you to be. Like the others, you were strong and swift and brave. A natural leader. But you had something they didn't. Something no one saw... but me. Can you guess? Luck." Sounds incredibly like someone with a crush.

Cortana is available on the black market and Amazon for around PhP1,350.  It's a nice figure to have especially if you're a fan of the video games.
