Marvel Legends: Steve Rodgers Custom

Presenting my custom build Marvel Legends Steve Rogers. This is my first ever custom build of a toy and I really do think it came out well. However with the recent injury (Hopefully death) of Bucky-Cap, the pending Captain America First Avenger movie coming, the re-boot of the Captain America series back to issue one,  rumor (Till he's actually wearing it, it's a rumor) has it that Steve Rogers is re-donning the Red-White and Blue scalemail.

So before Commander Steve Rogers, head of the Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate, or S.H.I.E.L.D.; which also makes him - as admitted by Special Agent Abigail Brand, head of the Sentient World Observation and Response Department, or S.W.O.R.D; leader of three Avenger's teams, ladies man (wink-wink), and defacto top-cop of the World becomes obsolete, I thought I might as well show him off.

Constructing this custom Commander Steve Rogers was actually quite easy. The very base of him is Dum-Dum Dugan's a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent from the Marvel Legends Ninjas vs. Spies series released in 2010.  I used Dum-Dum Dugan's body because I would no longer have to paint the body a blue that matched the S.H.I.E.L.D. blue. As you can see in the picture to the right, this Custom Steve Rogers' uniform color fits perfectly with Commander Maria Hill and Agent 13 Sharon Carter - who unfortunately now dons a pure-white uniform (Have to repaint her soon)

Commander Steve Rogers head is the alternate head of Captain America from the Marvel Legends Ultimate Captain America and Nick Fury 2 pack

The rest of this Custom Steve Rogers is a traditional elbow-grease filled paint job for the boots, gloves and piping.

I think it turned out pretty well and the only articulation lost to the figure was around the shoulders. If you raise his arms high enough, the "Stars" on his shoulder may enter his chest and you can kiss that paint-job good-bye.

Here is the original Captain America next to my Custom Steve Rogers with gambit's trench-coat - as Commander Rogers likes to go around with one nowadays and the original rifle of Dum-Dum Dugan - since apparently this Steve Rogers has canceled his no-guns policy.

My only regret with this figure is that I did not have the time to make his photon shield. If you follow Commander Rogers in the comic books, then you know that he's gone back to using his energy shield since his original shield is with Bucky-Cap. One day I may finish it but by then he'll be back to donning his old uniform so why bother right now?

In less than a month's time though, this will happen:

Whether or not Commander Rogers will completely drop his role as head of S.H.I.E.L.D. or revert to taking Bucky-Cap's place in the Avengers has yet to be revealed.
