Toy on a Budget: G.I. Joe Sigma 6 Night Ops Vamp (Incomplete)

Presenting a G.I. Joe Sigma 6 Night Ops Vamp (Incomplete). I came across the Night Ops Vamp while looking for bargains in Greenhills - the local toy black market here in the Philippines.  This particular Night Ops Vamp cost me PhP450 - roughly US$ 10 and change.

Unfortunately it was incomplete.

I wasn't familiar with the Sigma 6 2.5" vehicle line so I didn't know just how incomplete this Night Ops Vamp was (All I knew was that it looked cool and I wanted to beef up my 3 3/4's mobility). Had I known I probably would have negotiated for an even lower price. A complete Sigma Six Night Ops Vamp will set you back US$ 45 plus shipping on Amazon.  You can decide for yourself is it was worth the price.

This particular Sigma Six Night Ops Vamp is missing:

  • The forward winch and bull-guard
  • The top non-functioning exterior mounted lights
  • Both positionable antennas
  • The optional Rocket Launcher mounted weapon system and missile
  • The optional Multi-Missile Launcher mounted weapon system and six missiles.
  • All its stickers
  • A posed Snaked Eyes Figure

So. Remember that our objective was to find a really cool sleek vehicle to augment my 3 3/4 G.I. Joe line. On the exterior, the Sigma Six Night Ops Vamp fits this description and it looks like a wonderful companion for the G.I. Joe RHINO and G.I. Joe ROCC. The Night Ops Vamp is a sleek and very detailed vehicle, but it was meant for the shorter 2.5" toy line of Sigma Six;  so up front and center, Size is an obvious issue.

But it doesn't look like that's a problem for the Night Ops Vamp from the outside as you can see here when we put the Night Ops Vamp next to the G.I. Joe 25th Anniversary VAMP. In fact, Dusty fits just fine back there don't you think? He has a seat back there where he can kick back and relax

The Sigma Six Night Ops Vamp's problem is the interior. Raise the armored windows and open the doors and you're greeted by a very short ended cockpit. There is no way that a 3 3/4 figure would fit in there even with the improved leg articulation.

At best you can have a figure sit side-ways, but then the vehicle's seat pushes a 3 3/4 figure up so you may end up with a Night Ops Vamp with a figure's head sticking out of the vehicle's top.

My initial solution to the problem was to open it up and file in the leg room. Opening the Sigma Six Night Ops Vamp turned out to be quite easy. All you need is a a Phillips Screw Driver.

When I had successfully and effortlessly removed all six screws, and removed the Night Ops Vamp's clam-shell. I realized that there was a much simpler and much more effective solution to the space problem.

Remove the entire interior!

Something is really wrong here.

After that? Well I won't lie to you. Getting them into the Night Ops Vamp was still a pain in the ass because of the doors which won't open all the way and the low roof. However you can op to snap off the door first and put it back in. Still, now I can fit in two whole 3 3/4 Joes in there.

You won't be able to see the seats anyway, so you won't miss them.

By the way, that light works
The result is a really cool vehicle that you can jazz up some-more in the future and accommodates 3 3/4 action figures. In my book, that makes the Sigma Six Night Ops Vamp quite worth it for PhP 450.
