EPILIPSY FUNDRAISER ALLOWS FANS OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE DINNER WITH STAR WARS AND STAR TREK STARS

Earlier this year John McLaren and RickMan completed a comic book for the Epilepsy Foundation. It's a story of a boy who, while having a seizure, is aided by a superhero with personal experience of the affliction.  Now, with the help of the Great Allentown Comic Con and TheBigToyAuction.com they are raising funds to publish a full size, full color version of this comic to distribute, free, to hospitals, libraries and schools around the world.

To raise money for this project, the Great Allentown Comic Con 2011 MEGA SHOW will be hosting TWO Benefit auctions featuring unique items that every Star Wars, Star Trek and Science Fiction fan will love.  100% of the final hammer price of every lot sold will go directly to the Toteman epilepsy education project.

The Sunday, November 20th Art Auction will be held LIVE at the Merchant Square Mall in Allentown beginning at 3:30 PM EDT. Dozens of pieces of original artwork, created by fans and professionals alike will be on display and available for bidding. The MEGA SHOW welcomes everyone to come out and support the event. For those unable to make it, Preview and Inspection of the Auction Catalog is available online via http://TheBigToyAuction.com/GACC.html. Bidders can leave absentee bids through the Proxibid automated system, or listen in to the auction webcast and bid LIVE against attendees.

But First, Star Wars actors Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and Tom Kane (Yoda), and Star Trek actor Robert Picardo (The Doctor) have each donated their time for a very special treat – a one-on-one dinner following the convention on Saturday November 19th.  Each of the dinners is being auctioned off in an ONLINE ONLY Virtual Auction Ending Thursday Night, November 19th beginning at 6:10 PM.  Details and Pre-Bidding are available at http://TheBigToyAuction.com/DineAmongStars.html

Dinner Packages include:

  • “Let the Wookiee Eat” - Star Wars actor Peter Mayhew and his wife have donated an opportunity for one (1) lucky auction winner (plus one [1] guest) to enjoy an evening meal with them on Saturday November 19th following the show. Peter Mayhew is best known for playing the Wookiee Chewbacca in four of the major Star Wars films, a role the 7’2” English actor was born to play. In the years following the films, Mayhew has moved to the United States, become a citizen, and most recently begun writing children’s novels with his wife Angie Mayhew.
  • “Eat Now We Must” - Iconic voice actor Tom Kane has donated an opportunity for one (1) lucky auction winner (plus one [1] guest) to enjoy an evening meal with him on Saturday November 19th following the show. Tom Kane has spent nearly three decades doing voice work; often times as the narrating voice that helps propel a story and draw listeners into fantastical worlds. Currently he plays the part of Yoda on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, while also providing the narrative voice for each episode. In addition to Star Wars, Kane has also worked on the popular children’s cartoon The Powerpuff Girls and lent his voice to the 2011 movie, The Smurfs as the “Narrator Smurf.”
  • “What is the nature of the Dinner Emergency” - Fan favorite Star Trek Voyager and Stargate SG1 actor Robert Picardo has donated an opportunity for one (1) lucky auction winner (plus one [1] guest) to enjoy an evening meal with him on Saturday November 19th following the show. From 1995 to 2001, Picardo played the role of the Emergency Medical Hologram (EMH) and Emergency Command Hologram (ECH) in the TV series Star Trek: Voyager. He reprised the role of the EMH in a cameo appearance for the 1996 Star Trek motion picture “Star Trek: First Contact”. In 2004, he began playing the recurring role of Richard Woolsey in both Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, where he became a regular in the fifth season.

Christopher D. Wertz, Show Founder and Promoter says, “The decision for us to support the Toteman Epilepsy Awareness comic book was an easy choice for us this year. While we have hosted similar events before, the increase in offerings is nothing short of amazing this year. Having such talented actors like Peter Mayhew, Tom Kane and Robert Picardo graciously offer to donate their personal time to have dinner with a fan is a testament to the quality of people they are. We look forward to exceeding the goals needed for the Toteman comic book, and thank all the fans who bid.”
