G.I. Joe Pursuit of Cobra: Storm Shadow Desert Battle

Presenting: the Desert Battle Storm Shadow from the G.I. Joe Pursuit of Cobra line. Ok I have to admit that it took some time for me to get this up here in the blog and I almost considered forgetting about it, but I had the time and he's really cool so why not?

In March of this year, we talked about the G.I. Joe Pursuit of Cobra Wave 3 Snake Eyes - which I believe is the counter-part of the Desert Battle Storm Shadow - and how cool he was because Hasbro gave the character so many different accouterments to choose from. Desert Battle Storm Shadow is no different and comes with a plethora of weapons that make him look really cool! Consider these images:

Desert Battle Storm Shadow comes equipped with two hand-held claws, four Shuriken, a chain-link and blade add-on possible Manrikigusari, and get this not one, not two, not three, but six swords that Desert Battle Storm Shadow can link together or use individually!

The bad news is that in the time between my purchase of the Desert Battle Storm shadow and my decision to take photos of him for DarklordDungeon, I misplaced the chain of his Manrikigusari. Which is kinda sad considering that it is really cool!

So obviously he comes equipped with more equipment than he should rationally carry, but you have to admit he looks cool with the two blades sticking out like I had them - literally like some desert creature coming out of the sand.

If the saying "Knives don't run out of bullets" is true, then Storm Shadow can go on fighting forever.

Desert Battle Storm Shadow's blister card reads: "Storm Shadow is a Ninja Mercenary who works for Cobra. As the desert battle rages he hunts for Snake Eyes, the G.I. Joe Ninja and his sworn enemy. The Cobra Martial Arts master is prepared for battle in Samurai Desert Armor and armed with connectable Katana swords and a Manrikigusari chain weapon."

So what's to like about Desert Battle Storm Shadow?

We get to see him run out of blades:

He starts off with claws:

Throws the four shuriken attached to the pleats of his rather Mongolian inspired reinforced belt:

After that he falls to the extended blades on his back:

Desert Storm Shadow may lose one pair:

Or he can split it and fight from there:

And if Desert Storm Shadow loses that, he has two more Katanas to fall back on:

Or fall back to just one sword:

So what's not to like about Desert Battle Storm Shadow?

Nothing really. In my opinion, Desert Battle Storm Shadow is one of the best figures to come out of the G.I. Joe Pursuit of Cobra line. And he's common too, so finding one is quite easy. I believe this was purchased at retail - really wish I knew where I put the chain (Sigh) - and he's available on Amazon for US$ 4.59 to US$ 8.45 (PhP 200 to PhP 375 plus shipping). The only thing I would have loved added to this figure would have been an alternative head. One without the mask perhaps.
