Fall of Cybertron Shockwave

HONEEEY!!!! I'M HOOOMMMEEE!!!!
Presenting the Fall of Cybertron Shockwave.

Shockwave is literally a mad scientist in the city of Kaon on Cybertron. His relationship with Megatron started when Shockwave started providing weaponry to the arena gladiator - so we can assume that that big Fussion-Cannon that Megatron uses is something that Shockwave created for him.

Ironically, FOC Shockwave only befriended Megatron because he wanted to create an army of Megatron-like clones.
Are you feeling lucky punk?

Instead he ended up becoming Megatron's second-in-command. In the War for Cybetron DS version, there's supposed to be a part where Shockwave rebels against Megatron and you have to beat him and his friends up. Unfortunately I only have the X-box version.

In the yet to be released Fall of Cybetron video-game, Shockwave finds and starts to experiment with Space Bridges in an attempt to steal energon from other planets to reboot the dying Cybertron. Along the way he finds prehistoric Earth. Impressed with the savagery and power of dinosaurs - and the intricacy of insects, Fall of Cybertron Shockwave goes home and creates the Dinobots - Transformers with immense power but sadly lacking in intelligence - and the Insecticons. Naturally the experiment goes awry and the Dinobots turn against their creator.

The purple-clad mad scientist cum shock-trooper's blister card reads: "Shockwave may appear to be loyal to Megatron, but in reality he serves only one master - pure logic. Behind his emotionless face rests the mind of a brilliant strategiest and mathematician. He calculates constantly, and enforces his solutions through the precise application of the vast power of his laser cannon."

The Blister card goes on to list his attributes as:

  • Strength: 8
  • Intelligence: 10 - Real mad scientist here
  • Speed: 5 - Scientists do take their time
  • Endurance: 7 - Spends too much time in the lab and should really get out more.
  • Rank: 8
  • Fireblast: 10 - Stronger than Optimus Prime even in his Weaponizer Mode.
  • Skill: 6

What's to like about the Fall of Cybertron Shockwave?

An amazingly simple but very scary face. It's a cold, emotionless stare that both analyzes and judges you where you stand - the problem being that you have to idea what that judgement is.

You can picture him apathetically terminating organic and non-organic lifeforms.

It's actually sad.

It would actually be best to put something like FOC Shockwave out of his misery.

Next up of course is his laser canon. It's big, bulky and worthy of someone who dispatches death with cold efficiency. As with the Transformers Prime Vehicon, you can mount the Laser Canon on either arm or have him wield it with either hand. Shockwave can also store it behind him. He's also flexible enough for him to dual wield it/support it with his other arm.

Say hello to my Little Friend!!!!
Further, if you don't like the "sci-fi" look of the muzzle then simply remove the muzzle from the Fall of Cybertron Shockwave's Laser cannon. The result is a tri-barreled dun that looks even cooler and far more... sadistic.

With his Laser Canon stripped this way, Shockwave actually looks more like a Battlemech from Battletech or Mechwarrior:

Flexibility is fine. Excellent in Shockwave's upper torso - despite that bulky chest-piece, but he cannot rotate his torso. He can still kneel though:

And FOC Shockwave is balanced enough to do this:

What's NOT to like about the Fall of Cybertron Shockwave?

Aside from the fact that he cannot twist his torso which severely limits his articulation, Fall of Cybertron Shockwave is also a bit top heavy. Which would be fine with the proper leg supports, but unfortunately Shockwave lacks back leg support. So most of the time - especially when standing straight, he will fall backwards. He has to lean forward if you want to store his Laser Canon back there.

I'm also not terribly not a fan of what Shockwave transforms into - some kind of travelling gun (At least that's what I think he is. I would have been happier if he just transformed into a cannon or a clear mobile tank with dowel wheels like Megatron).

I'm not a fan because, well... see that glaringly big cockpit on the back? If I wanted to take him down, guess where I'd be shooting.

But my biggest beef with the Fall of Cybertron Shockwave is that... anybody else notice that he looks like he should be in the Transformers Animated Series? Wiki Shockwave and you'll find beefier images of Shockwave, not this thin, animated looking character.

Transformers Fall of Cybertron Shockwave is available on Amazon for a low of US$ 24.99 (Roughly PhP 1,075 plus shipping). I picked him up at Toy Kingdom here in the Philippines for PhP 699.75 (Roughly US$ 16.27).

I just want to be your friend
