STAR WARS Black Series Princess Leia

Presenting Princess Leia from the STAR WARS Black Series 6" toy-line.

This I believe is the 3rd STAR WARS Black Series figure we've reviewed following Luke Skywalker, Darth Maul and R2-D2 and we were all praises for this new line and are still now fantasizing over rumors that a Black Series X-Wing will be released in the immediate future - it would be HUGE!!!!

So when rumors of a Princess Leia in a Steel Bikini was going to be released, we absolutely had to get it. We waited patiently for it and then we heard that it was being circulated already in chase quantities throughout dealers in Metro Manila. As luck would have it we finally found one in Kramer's Toy Warden in the Black Market of Greenhills.

And here she is, the most iconic slave outfit in the galaxy. Princess Leia in her Steel Bikini!

Unfortunately she's not much to look at - there, we jumped to the conclusion.

WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE ABOUT THE STAR WARS BLACK SERIES PRINCESS LEIA?

Honestly we were expecting this (Princess Leia Steel Bikini Star Wars Unleashed):

Or something that looks like Scruffy Rebel:

Instead we got this

For a series touted for its detailing we absolutely abhor what she looks like up close:

Why such a long face? Could it be it's because she realizes that she looks absolutely nothing like Carrie Fisher? In fact she's a bit oriental.  She looks like an old Chinese grandmother given that permanent crick in her neck (It's bent forward so her jaw is perennially thrust out) and her the hunching of her shoulders. In fact to stand her up her "natural" pose has her thrusting her hips out. We really should have seen it coming in the packaging. Her blister card reads "Dressed as one of Jabba the Hutt's slaves, Princess Leia escapes from the Hutt's sail barge at the Pit of Carkoon."

Now we should note that we have seen some really nice pics of her face on the Internet. So what are we saying? Disney/Hasbro has no quality control and that we just got the really bad luck of the draw? Bullspit.

Now we were going to bash those really obvious articulation joints, but then we thought "Well how would you do it?" And the answer is, she's practically naked, and it's a light color, there's really no other way to do it.

Though we are a bit miffed that the Star Wars Black Series Princess Leia cannot do a split or spread her legs - we're perverts after all.

Also we don't know if anyone has noticed that her tabard has started to unravel.

WHAT'S TO LIKE ABOUT THE STAR WARS BLACK SERIES PRINCESS LEIA?

Articulation is excellent! Should they one day create a Black Series Jabba the Hutt complete with a throne room, you know what figure you want sitting in front of the Mighty Jabba:

Yes you can remove the chain from her neck, but it only enhances how hunched her shoulders are.

The STAR WARS Black Series Princess Leia comes armed with a BD-1 Cutter Vibro Axe and a Vibro Lance. Both of which are put to great use given her wonderful hand articulation:

This particular Star Wars Black Series Princess Leia was purchased from Kramer's Toy Store in the Black Market of Greenhills for PhP 1,200 (Roughly PhP 26.66). But given the facial sculpt, hunched shoulders and general un-sexiness, the price of a new figure on Amazon is already at low of US$ 12.99 (PhP 584.55 and dropping - plus shipping).

Save yourselves.
