Okay before you get your hopes up, NO, THIS FIGURE DOES NOT COME WITH A CORTANA.
Cortana is from the Mega Bloks HALO UNSC Cryo set.
But she fits perfectly in the hands of the McFarlane Halo 2 Master Chief. We don't think playing HALO as John-117 would ever be the same without her.:(
Just occurred to us that we never finished HALO 2 on the X-Box. And it wasn't because we weren't good enough, it's just that we got bored every time we had to slip into the guise of the Arbiter - which we hated. We were here to play Spartans after all.
Anyway, this is the Mjolnir Mark VI armor that was introduced in HALO 2. It's less.... streamlined and looks lighter than the crab like armor of the Mark V. In our opinion the Mark VI looks far more detailed and more... tactical than the smooth surfaces of the Mark V. McFarlane's Halo 2 Master Chief's blister card states "At the age of six, the future Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 was abducted by ONI (Office of Naval Intelligence) and conscripted into the top secret SPARTAN-II project."
The Halo 2 Master Chief does come with everything you see here:
- A BR55 Battle Rifle with a removable peg that allows it to be mounted on his back
- A pair of M7 caseless ammunition Sub Machine Guns (SMGs) with removable pegs that allow it to be mounted on his thighs.
- A pair of Type-25 Covenant Plasma Rifles - We're not sure if these are the Brute Plasma Rifles or the regular Plasma Rifles. The SMG removable pegs can also be attached to these so you can mount them on his thighs.
- A single Fragmentary Grenade that can be pegged at the back of his waist.
WHAT'S TO LIKE ABOUT THE McFARLANE HALO 2 MASTER CHIEF?
FIRST: thing we like about the Halo 2 Master Chief from McFarlane is the Mjolnir Mark VI.
It's in pristine condition - no dings, no dents.
Now some people may like that, others may not. It looks like he literally popped out of the box. We like it because you get to appreciate the clean detailing.
Others may hate it because they prefer the rugged, used more... real world Mjolnir V armor sported by Noble Team.
You can choose which you prefer, but either way the detailing all throughout is excellent. Check out the flashlights on his
We forgot to shoot the back of his head where you can see the slot to slide Cortana's chip in.
SECOND: All those beautiful weapons! Halo 2 was known for the first time the Master Chief could dual-wield firearms - which is really, really cool especially since THIRD this is one hell of an articulated figure. First off is the BR55 - our favorite (Not to be confused with the M392 DMRifle used by Noble One).
We fell in love with the Battle Rifle because of its lethal ability to dispense death. With practice, there is something almost zen like about sending a triple burst of armor-piercing bullets through the armored skull of a covenant Elite.
After that you have the SMGs, and YES! FOURTH: The McFarlane Halo 2 Master Chief CAN kneel:
Like maybe a pair of these Covenant Plasma Rifles:
Having just one Plasma Rifle isn't so bad or you can dual wield one with an SMG:
Then there are always the grenades:
FIFTH: It also helps that the McFarlane Halo 2 Master Chief fits right in there with the rest of Noble Team. Which means you can give him Noble 3's SRS99 Sniper Rifle. And Boy! The McFarlane Halo 2 Master Chief can use it better than Noble 3 can.
FIRST:There is only one thing wrong that we can see from the McFarlane Halo 2 Master Chief and that his upper arm articulation is a bit limited. As you can see from the photo to the right, Master Chief cannot reach the rifle attached to his back. That's about as far as his elbows will let him go.
It would also have been nice if his wrists had the ability to move up and down in a perpendicular motion relative to his forearm.
This particular McFarlane Halo 2 Master Chief was purchased from Toys R'Us in Robinsons Galleria her in Manila, Philippines for PhP 1, 199.75 (Roughly US$ 26.66). It is available on Amazon for US$ 14.99 (Roughly PhP 674.55 plus shipping) MEGA OUCH!!!!!!!
