Mortal Kombat X Princess Kitana

Mortal Kombat X
Mortal Kombat X Princess Kitana
Presenting the step-daughter of Shao Khan, the 10,000 year old Princess Kitana of Edenia from the Mortal Kombat X toyline.

It took us a while to figure out why this particular figure appeals to us, and after a while it clicked "She has Emily Blunt's haunting eyes." Maybe when Hollywood finally gets down to making a decent Mortal Kombat movie, they can ask her to play it.

We wonder how Emily Blunt would have been received as the Black Widow had she not turned it down in favor of doing the Adjustment Bureau.

She's still our bet though to become Captain Marvel.

Anyway this is a figure based upon the 2015 Netherworlds video game. Unfortunately no, we never played it. But based upon the figure, there was a lot of blood and gore involved.

MORE AFTER THE JUMP:

Princess Kitana was first introduced all the way back in 1993 in Mortal Kombat II.

We loved how she was played by Talisa Soto in the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie not because it was a great movie but because she was sooo hot.

The bad news is that the Mortal Kombat X Princess Kitana's blister pack reads: "A princess of Edenia, Kitana was raised as the daughter of Shao Kahn. Upon learning that Shao Kahn was creating evil clones from her DNA, Kitana rebelled, and fought on the side of Earthrealm. Dying to defent it, her soul was collected by Quan Chi, and now serves the netherrealm." So. Dead. Bad guy. She was sooo hot.

The Mortal Kombat X Princess Kitana comes with some really wicked fan blades, a bo-staff, eight hand alternate hands, and a glaive.

What's to like about the Mortal Kombat X Princess Kitana?

FIRST: While the Mortal Kombat X Princess Kitana is not quite a faithful depiction of the "Mournful Variation" of Kitana in the video-game, it's still a great looking presentation of Princess Kitana.

From what we can gleam from the video-game, there are three variants of Kitana: Royal Storm - which is basically Kitana without her mask on - This variant is a defensive long-range fighter; Assassin - which is what we see here on the right - who is a close-in fighter, and; Mournful: which is the Assassin variant which primarily uses her bo-staff and has a usable glaive attached to her back.

SECOND: Mortal Kombat X Princess Kitana comes with a wonderful assortment of weapons. Her default fans of course are our favorite. They are actually sharp. We wouldn't stress them though because the plastic feels hard enough to be snap-able.

We're not quite a fan of her bo-staff because unlike the rest of her weapons it looks like an energy generated staff rather than a real staff, but it does look good on her:

Princess Kitana's glaive fits to her back. If you look at the photo of her back from above though, this seems to be a very dangerous practice.

THIRD: As you've seen above Mortal Kombat X Princess Kitana comes with excellent articulation. It could definitely be better - she can't kneel - but it's still pretty good and she's capable of some martial arts moves when you switch out her hands:

What's NOT to like about the Mortal Kombat X Princess Kitana?

There are only three issues that we saw with Princess Kitana. FIRST: We're not really fans of the bloodied look. We suppose it does grow on you after a while. It would have been really great if  Mezco Toys included an umasked variant of her head so that collectors would have the option as to which variant of Princess Kitana to display.

SECOND: Her leg articulation is sadly limited. It would have been great if she could kneel and her shoulder articulation is hampered by her pauldrons.

THIRD:  She doesn't have a foot peg. It would have been great if she had some.

Mezco Toy's Mortal Kombat X Princess Kitana is available on Amazon for US$ 35 (Roughly PhP 1,680 plus shipping).
