Star Wars Black Series Ahsoka Tano Review

Star Wars Black Series Ahsoka Tano Review
Star Wars Black Series Ahsoka Tano
Presenting the failed Jedi Ahsoka Tano from the Star Wars Black Series 6" toyline.

We're not really fans of Star Wars Rebels since they tend to make fun of the Empire and have no respect for canon.

But we do love the fact that they are trying to tie up a loose end left from the very very lovely Star Wars Clone Wars cartoon series: The fate of Anakin Skywalker's failed padawan, Ahsoka "Snips" Tano.

The Clone Wars definitely ended with her fate hanging. We expected her to die at the end of the Clone Wars since Anakin Skywalker did not have a Padawan learner at the start of Episode III.

But no, she's back and still kicking. It's actually a bit incredulous that the Jedi would let a trained Padawan on the verge of knighthood just quit - taking all her skills with her. Isn't that more or less how Sith are born?

Star Wars Black Series Ahsoka Tano ReviewThe Star Wars Black Series Ahsoka Tano's blister card summarizes her history following the Clone Wars "Ahsoka Tano: Anakin Skywalker's apprentice hsoka Tano left the Jedi Order before it was destroyed during Order 66. She would reemerge years later as Fulcrim, a leader in the fledging rebellion against the Empire"

The Togruta failed Jedi has rebuilt her two lightsabers, maintaining her unorthodox reverse lightsaber grip while practicing the Jar'Kai dual lightsaber technique. Coincidentally Ahsoka Tano now utilizes silver lightsaber blades akin to the blade used by Jedi Master Shaak Ti in the Force Unleashed video game. There's nothing remarkable about her shoto (short lightsaber), but her main lightsaber utilizes a curved hilt akin to the ones used by Asajj Ventress and Count Dooku - so has she been hanging out with Asajj? How is that loose end of a failed Sith coming along?

What's to like about the Star Wars Black Series Ahsoka Tano?

FIRST:  The cartoon accurate detailing which has waaay better body proportions than her 3.5" version that was released along with a very animated Darth Vader.

This is a serious adult representation of failed Jedi Ahsoka Tano, not some ill-proportioned animated series version. As such her detailing is better than her animated cousin. Of particular note is her chestplate: So it really is a layer of armor over her bosom and not a cloth fabric suit - which her animated version suggests.

The Black Series Ahsoka Tano's face and montrals are also much more detailed than her animated cousin. And unlike her animated cousin, you can remove her lightsaber blades so that they can be hung on the hooks on her thighs.

SECOND The Star Wars Black Series Ahsoka Tano comes with a closed right fist. At first we were enraged by this because she was a dual lightsaber wielder, but then we realized that it was cut open and she could hold a lightsaber. It was just a nice touch that if you needed a closed fist, Ahsoka Tano had one. Note the high amount of kibble though:

Ahsoka Tano can be made to dual wield a single blade - and she can do so to form a low, high or mid guard:

THIRD Give Ahsoka Tano both her blades and let the fun start thanks to her extremely high articulation:

This is incredible considering that Ahsoka Tano fights like a dervish. Her articulation is even better than the 3.75 Vintage Version of Ahsoka Tano.

What's NOT to like about the Star Wars Black Series Ahsoka Tano?

FIRST Her head. Aside from the really dour looking facial expression of the Black Series Ahsoka Tano - which is to be expected from something made by Marvel - her montrals are really, realy hard - and remember, there's a third montral going down her back.

So shooting Ahsoka Tano was a struggle between just having her look forward and hearing the plastic creak as we force her head to the left or right. Happily her head did not pop off, but we wouldn't put that off as something that would never occur.

SECOND: Taking her lightsaber blades off is not recommended. They feel like they are made from soft plastic and are on the verge of snapping.

The Star Wars Black Series Ahsoka Tano is available on Amazon for US$ 54.99 (Roughly PhP 2,584.53 plus shipping). We understand she's quite rare.

A definite must have.
