Marvel Universe Colossus Action Figure

 Action Figure
Marvel Universe Colossus Action Figure
Presenting the Marvel Universe Action figure of the X-Men's Mighty Colossus.

To the uninitiated, this is Piotr "Peter" Nikolaievitch Rasputin, AKA Colossus. Colossus has the mutant ability to transform his entire body - not just his skin  - into an Osmium-like organic steel. In the process he gains significant mass, growing from 6'6" in height to around 7'5" in height, and weighs t least double his normal weight.

With the armor comes an extremely high resistance to injury and superhuman strength and stamina - supposedly Colossus is in the Class 100 strength level following the realignment of his cells by Magneto due to an injury sustained during the Mutant Massacre. While armored, Colossus requires no food, water or oxygen and is naturally resistant to other forms of energy attacks including temperature extremes, electricity and even magic.

At one time, while in armored form, he was able to kiss Rogue.

Which Marvel constantly forgets.

X-Men Apocalypse Review (Spoilers) - justifying global mass murder

X-Men Apocalypse Review
My thoughts on X-Men Apocalypse.

A bit late, but we wrote it on our sister blog so here it is.

X-Men Apocalypse was directed by Bryan Singer (Superman Returns), using a screenplay by Simon Kinberg (Hahahaha.... Fantastic 4) that was based upon a story by Bryan Singer, Michael Dougherty (Superman Returns), Dan Harris (Superman Returns) & Simon Kinberg

X-Men Apocalypse reunites most of the cast from the previous X-Men movies including:
James McAvoy (Atonement, Wanted) as Professor X;
Michael Fassbender (Assasin's Creed, Atonement) as Magneto;
Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games) as Mystique; Oscar Isaac (An unknown indie film called Star Wars VII) as Apocalypse; Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road, About a Boy) as Beast; Rose Byrne (Star Wars Episode II, Dallas Doll) as Moira MacTaggert; Tye Sheridan  (Mud, The Tree of life) as Cyclops
Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) as Jean Grey; Olivia Munn (Newsroom, Magic Mike) as Psylocke;
Lucas Till (Hannah Montana the Movie) as Havok; Kodi Smit-McPhee (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as Nightcrawler; Ben Hardy (East Enders) as Angel; Alexandra Shipp (House of Anubis) as Storm, and; Hugh Jackman (Eddie the Eagle, Real Steel) as Wolverine.

Marvel Legends BAF Puck

Marvel Legends BAF Puck
Presenting Puck the end result of the Build your own Action Figure (BAF) series of the same name from Marvel Legends.

If we're right Eugene Milton "Puck" Judd is the smallest articulated Marvel Legends character in the market - not counting the tiny version of AntMan and the Wasp.

To the uninitiated, Puck was a soldier of fortune who was born in 1914. Despite the fact that he stood 7' tall - an imposing, hardly discrete character - he was hired to steal the Black Blade of Baghdad, which unbeknownst to him contained a trapped sorcerer called the Black Raazer.

Freed from the blade, the Black Blade, Puck sacrificed a portion of his life-force to contain the wraith in the only container available in the area, his body. Somehow this resulted in Puck's shrinking down from 7' to 3'6".

Halo 5 Guardians Spartan Fred

Halo 5 Guardians Spartan Fred
Presenting the McFarlane Toys Spartan Fred from the Halo 5 Guardians video game.

To the uninitiated, this is Lientenant Junior Grade - yes, he outranks the Master Chief - Frederic Ellsworth, one of the last Spartan II supersoldiers in the service of the United Nations Space Command's Naval Special Warefare Command (UNSC)

For more about the Master Chief, click here.

Spartan Fred (Call sign Sierra 104) is technically the ranking officer of Blue team and is a natural leader and brilliant strategist, but he constantly defers to the leadership of Master Chief John 117 (He even holds the designation "Blue Three").

GI Joe DVD Box Set Lady Jaye

GI Joe DVD Box Set Lady Jaye
Presenting Lady Jaye from the GI Joe "The Revenge of Cobra" DVD box-set. This figure accompanied Roadblock, Destro, the M.A.S.S device. and "The Revenge of Cobra" DVD.

To the uninitiated, this is Specialist (E4) Alison R. Hart-Burnett, from Martha's Vineyard MA. Her primary MOS is Covert-Operations and Counter intelligence. Her Secondary MOS is.... well this is strange, she's both a Personnel Clerk and an Armament Repair specialist.

Her movie version - played by the incredibly sexy Adrianne Palicki- was a 1st Lieutennt - later promoted to Captain.

Check out the GI Joe Retaliation Lady Jaye here

According to her wiki, Lady Jaye "...is a Bryn Mawr graduate, and also did graduate work in Trinity College in Dublin, before graduating from intelligence school at Fort Holabird. She is Airborne and Ranger qualified, and an expert with the M-16, M-1911A1 auto pistol, and reflex crossbow. She is also an accomplished actress and fluent in several languages. She has a knack for impersonation, right down to the subject's voice and mannerisms."

Marvel Universe X-Force Deadpool

Marvel Universe X-Force Deadpool
Presenting the Merc with a Mouth Deadpool from the Marvel Universe Super Hero Team X-Force three pack.

While Wade Winston Wilson AKA Deadpool is only a self-proclaimed X-Man, When X-Men's leaders - specifically Cyclops and Wolverine - deemed the need for covert-assassin squad - X-Force - Deadpool was not considered for the team

Check out our X-Force Wolverine review here.

The squad that was meant to end - literally - all threats to mutant-kind consisted of team members who were designed to kill, but really weren't killers at heart. So eventually the team was disbanded. Wolverine however saw the need for X-Force and formed a new team without Cyclops' knowledge. That team led by Wolverine included Psylocke, Archangel, Dr. Nemesis, Fantomex and finally, Deadpool - all members who had no problem with killing and have killed in the past.

Marvel Legends Spiral Gold Variant

Marvel Legends Spiral Gold Variant
Presenting the Spiral Gold variant from the Marvel Legends Red Hulk BAF series.

We first met the woman known as Spiral waaaay back in the mid-80s during the Fall of the Mutants story-line of the X-Men. Back then she was one of the scariest members of Freedom Force, a literal powerhouse who could take the X-Men on all by her lonesome.

Spiral was a master swords-woman who had six arms - one bionic arm - enhanced strength; the ability to use offensive and defensive magic; and could teleport across dimensions, and; a severely psychotic attitude.

Her one vulnerability seemed to be her irrational hatred for the X-Man Longshot. It would later be revealed that it's because she's the future Mojo manipulated version of Rita "Richochet Rita" Wayward, Longshot's girlfriend.

Decades later Spiral would become a member of the all female - not counting Puck - X-Force team.

Captain America Civil War Review - Spoilers

Review
Captain America: Civil War Review
This is a review of Captain America Civil War and it does contain spoilers, so anything past this point - if you don't want spoilers - is on you.

Chris Evans reprises his role as the Star-Spangled Avenger and bings the rest of the Avengers with him.

That being said: This is the second movie I've watched this year where super-heroes go to war against each other because of their mothers. What's up with that?

THAT being said: I'm a bit of a quandary on how to proceed. There is no way that I cannot compare this to Batman versus Superman because - despite the terrible writing from DCComics - the two have themes that intermingle.

Bottom-line though, under the helm of the Russo Brothers- Anthony and Joe (You, Me and Dupree, Arrested Development) - Captain America Civil War did it waaaaaaay  waaaaaay waaaaay better than Zack Synder did with Batman versus Superman.

This was one of the best and most engrossing two and a half hours we've ever spent in a movie.

Star Wars Legacy Collection Imperial Space Trooper

Star Wars Legacy Collection
Star Wars Legacy Collection Imperial Space Trooper
Presenting an Imperial Space trooper from the Star Wars Legacy Collection.

Hopefully Imperial space-troopers will be kept as canon in the new Star Wars universe. It does make sense after all to have troopers that can operate in a vacuum if your army operates in one. When we reviewed the Star Wars Black Series Stormtrooper

CHECK OUT OUR STAR WARS BLACK SERIES STORMTROOPER REVIEW HERE

we revealed that Stormtrooper armor can survive for a limited time in vacuums - probably just enough time to get to safety - the Imperial Space Trooper was meant to live that childhood dream we probably all had as children of flying through space on a jetpack while launching laser bolts from our wrists.
