Halo 5 Guardians Spartan Fred

Halo 5 Guardians Spartan Fred
Presenting the McFarlane Toys Spartan Fred from the Halo 5 Guardians video game.

To the uninitiated, this is Lientenant Junior Grade - yes, he outranks the Master Chief - Frederic Ellsworth, one of the last Spartan II supersoldiers in the service of the United Nations Space Command's Naval Special Warefare Command (UNSC)

For more about the Master Chief, click here.

Spartan Fred (Call sign Sierra 104) is technically the ranking officer of Blue team and is a natural leader and brilliant strategist, but he constantly defers to the leadership of Master Chief John 117 (He even holds the designation "Blue Three").

MORE AFTER THE JUMP

Spartan Fred comes armed with the Centurion-class Mjolnir Powered Assault Armor. The Centurion features C4I2SR - or a Command, Control, Communications Computers, Intelligence, Information, Surveillance and Reconnaissance package - which technically makes Spartan Fred the most knowledgeable tactically in a battlefield. Why he's not in command is really a tribute to John 117's leadership.

This is the GEN 2 Mjolnir armor so it also now comes with a threat management system that provides for situational awareness, tactical software upgrades and cognition-enhancing neural interlinks - in othere words, he sees more than John 117 sees.

WHAT'S TO LIKE ABOUT THE HALO 5 GUARDIANS SPARTAN FRED?

FIRST: That Centurion armor is sick! Of all the armors we have featured on this site, this is probably our favorite - though we have to admit that it would probably feel like sensory overload to be inside it.

But this would be the armor of choice if we had to suit up in a Mjolnir.

We're fans of all the gold tinge and irregular surface features that adorns the armor.

Supposedly the Centurion's helmet looks like the helm of a Roman Centurion. We don't really see that though:

Like Spartan Kelly-087, Spartan Fred-104 also has his serial number, 104, in braille over his right breastplate.

SECOND: Articulation is excellent despite Fred-104 being so bulky:

THIRDSpartan Fred-104 comes armed with the newer M395 DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle) - a later version of the M392 used by Noble 1, Commander Carter- A259, and a low-hip slung M6H2 Magnum.

Fred-104 cannot look straight down the barrel of his DMR, but then he's not supposed to as the scope is linked to his armor's visor:

Spartan Fred-104 also looks great with his pistol. Like Spartan Buck, he also has it mounted a bit lower on his thigh than normal:

WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE ABOUT THE HALO 5 GUARDIANS SPARTAN FRED?

FIRSTIt could be just us as we are color blind, but we swear that this HALO 5 Guardians Spartan Fred-104 has gray armor. Fred-104's armor should be blue.

SECOND: Spartan Fred-104 is known for using knives in combat - something he has a clear affinity for - this particular gold-tinged Spartan does not have any knives.

THIRD: As with the rest of the Spartans we've reviewed recently we had to take a blade to Spartan Fred-104's right hand in order to free up his trigger finger.

The McFarlane Toys Halo 5 Guardians Spartan Fred-104 Action figure is available on Amazon for US$15.99 (Roughly PhP 752 plus shipping).

Too bad McFarlane will not release the 4th member of Blue Team: Spartan Linda.
