Missiletank Robo - Gobots Guardian Blaster

Machine Robo series Missiletank Robo - Gobot Guardian Blaster
The best there is at what he does.
If he was tan and had a little more brown, we would say that Action Toys was looking to create the Gobot equivalent of Wolverine with their version of Missile Tank Robo.

We had two or three Gobots when we were younger. We definitely had a submarine, the SR-71 Blackbird whom we now know as the Gobot Renegade Snoop the Guardian Submarine Dive-Dive, and this guy - the missile carrying Blaster.

But then we grew up in an age of typewriters, rotary phones and black-and-white dial controlled televisions - we actually didn't know back then who were the bad guys. Snoop, to us, had a to be a good-guy because he was an American spy-plane. Blaster, obviously had to be a Renegade because he looked like one of those Russian missile launchers that we would sometimes see on the news.

Years later, we found out it was the other way around.

MORE AFTER THE JUMP

Missiletank Robo - Gobots Guardian Blaster - boxMissiletank Robo - Gobots Guardian Blaster - boxAction Toys doesn't provide much about Machine robo Revenge of Cronos Missiletank Robo in its really nice box, so we went to the Gobot wikipedia to come up with more information on Blaster. The wiki says: "Like most GoBots, Blaster has numerous abilities because of robotic body. He can survive in space and is super-humanly strong and tough. He can fly in robot mode and project energy blasts from his hands. His body heals quickly when supplied with energy. He can turn into a missile launcher tank"

Also known as "Rocket man" (Probably ran into a copy-right issue), Blaster had the following powers:
  • Energy blasts
  • Flight
  • Healing factor
  • Oxygen independence
  • Shapeshifting
  • Superhuman durability
  • Superhuman longevity
  • Superhuman strength
So.... yeah, he is kinda like Wolverine

Tease me!
WHAT'S TO LIKE ABOUT THE ACTION TOYS MACHINE ROBO SERIES 08 MISSILE TANK ROBO - GOBOTS GUARDIAN BLASTER?

FIRST: If we loved Snoop for being svelte and sexy in flight and robot mode, we have to give it to Action Toys for being consistent when it comes to Blaster. He's bulky, rough, tough and deadly both in robot mode and missile launcher mode.

SECOND: You have several options when it comes to mounting Blaster's missiles - allowing you to adapt him to your personal tastes. You can:
  • Mount them on his snub-rifle

  • Mount them on his back

  • Mount them on his forearms - where he can use them as spikes or act like he's launching them.

Personally we prefer having them on the forearms.

THIRDLike Snoop his articulation is excellent:

FOURTH: His detailing is excellent and Missiletank Robo's mug is just pretty. We love the goggles. He really looks like someone who's prepared to launch missiles. Also you can tell from the paint-job's glossy paint that this figure comes with a lot of die-cast metal:

FIFTHMissiletank Robo's high articulation extends to his alternate mode as his missiles can elevate and track:

FIRSTAs with  Snoop Blaster's stand is flimsy as hell and we're still waiting for it to break.

SECONDMissiletank Robo's biggest problem is his missiles. Despite the high articulation, the fins of the missiles and the size of the missiles do tend to end up hampering his arm movement. More than one we had to stop to reattach a fallen missile during this shoot.

Still a great buy if you're a Gobots fan.
