Batman Arkham Origins - Batman Unlimited Action Figure

Presenting the Arkham Origins Batman from the Batman Unlimited Action Figure Series. 

So I finished Batman Arkham Origins over the Holidays, and I have to say that it does not disappoint. Arkham Origins is an excellent video game utilizing the same engine that we've all come to love from Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.

Set during Christmas Eve in Gotham, it really felt apropos to play the game over the holidays. But seriously there is no way that Batman did all that in one night.

It was also quite a treat to take on Deathstroke, Shiva, and a brand new genderbended Copperhead.

I was however a bit disturbed when I had to take the Joker down. The guy had clearly had enough and the game wanted me to hit him again. I was like "seriously?!!!!" It was excessive.

Still taking down the 12 assassins was fun.


The Batman Unlimited: Arkham Origins Batman's blister card does not say anything about the Bat other than that it includes small parts - but really it doesn't.

To the uninitiated, Batman: Arkham Origins presents Batman in the early stages of his career when he was looked at by the police as being just as much of a criminal as the madmen he stopped.

Because of this Batman comes with a... less sleeker... in comparison to the one he/you/we used in Batman: Arkham City and Arkham Asylum. Which is why, as you see here, the highlights of Batman's costume includes shiny silver rivets that hold his armor plates in place - which is a nice touch that I really enjoyed.

The game goes on to establish the depth and origins of Batman's relationship with some of the key characters of his extended family, including Commissioner Gordon, Oracle, and Alfred Pennyworth - who he actually saves from dying in the game (Spoiler).


What's to like about the Batman Arkham Origins Action Figure?

This particular Batman Unlimited Action Figure is incredibly sculpted! It's a fine depiction of his appearance in the movie. I really super duper love the rivets, the armored plating and how much Batman looks like a solid wall.

Seriously who would want to tussle with a six-foot solid shiny armored man dressed as bat?

The Batman Unlimited Arkham Origins Batman is so finely sculpted, you can simply pose him on a shelf and be completely content - no need to play with him.

But really the joy comes when you find out just how high his articulation is:

What's NOT to like about the Batman Arkham Origins Action Figure?

The Arkham Origins Batman Action figure from the Batman Unlimited Series has incredibly stubby arms.

His forearms have the ability to bend at the wrists, but there really isn't much for him to do with those.

And finally his chest is really stiff. All his articulation seems to be in his lower torso. I would have loved if Mattel could have  given some upper torso articulation.

Anyway, this particular Batman Unlimited Arkham Origins Batman Action figure was purchased from Toy Kingdom in Megamall for PhP 1,119.75 (Roughly US$ 24.88). Someone is trying to sell him on Amazon for US$ 9,995 (PhP 449,775 plus shipping). He's not worth that. Other sellers on Amazon are giving him away for US$ 69.99 (Roughly PhP 3,150 plus shipping).

I understand he's a bit scarce.


Which makes him a fine first 2014 addition to the Dark Lord Dungeon.
