Marvel Universe Elektra

Presenting Elektra from the 5th Series of the Marvel Universe toy line.

To the uninitiated, Elektra Natchios is not the Mexican appetizer Foggy Nelson makes her out to be. She is one of Frank Miller's greatest and most beloved creations: a kunoichi (Female assassin), long time flame of the Daredevil  - the Man-Without-Fear (The title where Frank Miller debuted); Current member of the Thunderbolts, and; now the love interest of the Punisher (Another title that  Frank Miller is famous for writing for).

Elektra has had quite a colorful history in the Marvel Universe (And we don't just mean red). She's one of Marvel's more famous testaments to the Marvel Universe statement "Nobody stays dead forever" - what with having been killed by the assassin Bullseye and brought back from the dead by the Hand - hell she even brought Daredevil back from the dead after his death in the Shadowlands series. She is remembered by most as the 1st hero kidnapped for the Skrull invasion. Rumor has it that she was experimented on during her captivity.

She's been both a hero and a villain. Daredevil's lover and the greatest thorn at his side.

One of those rightfully called an anti-hero.

Marvel Universe Elektra's career path has also been quite colorful. She has been the premiere assassin of the Hand, the Head of the Hand, an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D, the chief enforcer for the Kingpin, and now a member of the aforementioned Thunderbolts.

Marvel Universe Elektra's blister card reads "Born without superhuman powers, this mercenary has turned herself into one of the world's most feared masters of martial arts." She's so good that when she went toe-to-toe with DC Comics' Catwoman, she won.

What's to like about the Marvel Universe Elektra?

FIRST: Elektra is beautifully sculpted. At first we thought - and there are hints that this is probably true - that she is a re-purposed Scarlet Witch figure - the similarities are especially notable in the facial area.

But we think this cannot be true and that her features are not as sharp as the Scarlet Witch's. But it's really difficult to confirm without a loose headdress.

The Marvel Universe Elektra figure is really very beautiful in person, but she was a bit difficult to shoot - there are blue highlights under her eyes that just do not photograph very well.

SECOND and THIRD:  The Marvel Universe Elektra action figure comes with fists quite similar to those of Storm Shadow's that allow her to properly grasp her sais and incredible articulation that allow her to recreate some of her more famous poses:

And yes, the Marvel Universe Elektra can kneel - and she looks incredible when she does:

FOURTH:  Why stop with sais? (Thanks Deadpoo!) Elektra can dual wield her weapons:

FIFTH: It's about time she arrived so she can be posed with these guys:

She looks great with Daredevil.

What's NOT to like about the Marvel Universe Elektra?

FIRST: Elektra's hairpiece gets into the way of things as you can see here where she cannot cross her arms over her head. That's about as far as her arms will go. Kudos though to Marvel for making her headpiece soft enough that you ca still twist her head. Note that it also would have been great if they gave her GI Joe wrists to match her GI Joe hands.

SECOND: Her Belt harness doesn't quite get in the way, but you do have to move it around a lot.

THIRD:  Elektra's hip keeps popping out. There really is a limit as to how wide you can open or raise her legs. You just have to get creative when you pose her.

Other than that, this is a must have Marvel Universe figure especially if you are a Daredevil fan.

This particular Marvel Universe Elektra Action Figure was purchased in the black market of Greenhills for PhP 800 (Roughly US$ 17.77). She is available on Amazon for US$ 17.49 - roughly the same price plus shipping.

A bit of trivia. This is Lisa Lyons, the woman who Frank Miller based Elektra on:

Damn Arnold is creepy.
