G.I. Joe Pursuit of Cobra: Crazy Legs (Wave 6)

Presenting the G.I. Joe Assault Trooper CrazyLegs from Wave 6 of the G.I. Joe Pursuit of Cobra series. G.I. Joe CrazyLegs has yet to hit the international market and is not even listed as a pre-order on Amazon. At first glance, CrazyLegs may seem to be a very simple action figure - nothing flashy, quirky or strange enough to make CrazyLegs a worthy member of the G.I. Joe Pursuit of Cobra Line. He comes with a heavily modified Beryl 96 (?) Assault Rifle, an alternate SMG-R Submachine-gun, a pistol, a parachute and a helmet with goggles. G.I. Joe CrazyLegs's is also dressed like a reject Power-Ranger - Hasbro remained quite true to what he originally looked like when he was first released in 1987. But G.I. Joe Pursuit of Cobra CrazyLegs has one single VERY INTERESTING trick that most G.I. Joe figures do not have - which we will show later

G.I. Joe CrazyLegs is really Specialist (E4) D.Oliver Thomas. His blister card reads "Crazy Legs is a classically trained organist. The Airborne Rangers, however, don't care how perfectly you can play Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor; they're only concerned with your willingness to jump out of a helicopter into a hot landing zone with nothing but a rifle and some grenades. CrazyLegs is, of course, Airborne Ranger qualified and has been cross-trained as a forward artillery observer." In the Marvel Comics G.I. Joe Continuity, CrazyLegs was one of the G.I. Joes killed by a S.A.W. Viper (Along with Breaker, Doc, Heavy Metal, Quick Kick, Thunder and Crankcase) under a mission gone terribly wrong led by Lt. Falcon in Trucial Abysmia. 

Now on to the good stuff:
This apparently "nothing special" figure has one gift: He can look down the barrel of his gun!.

Face it, it's a small little thing, but a lot of us want CrazyLeg's one simple ability. Hell I'm sure a lot of us who purchased LowLight wish Lowlight could do that. Most of us simply live content with our G.I. Joes just holding their guns. G.I. Joe Pursuit of Cobra CrazyLegs can do that and stare down his sights.

Further. Take off his helmet and he looks even cooler - despite the fact that CrazyLegs is still dressed like a Power Ranger - which, by the way, is understandable since he's a paratrooper (Though I'm sure that under normal circumstances CrazyLegs would look better in camouflage.) 

CrazyLegs can look down the barrel of both of his supplied weapons. 

Unfortunately G.I. Joe CrazyLegs can't look down the sights of a pistol while wielding it with both hands - but I suppose that's asking for too much.

So what's not to like?

Well aside from the Power Ranger get-up, there is no way that you can remove G.I Joe Pursuit of Cobra CrazyLeg's parachute. Initially it looks like you can. Simply lift the chute from behind and unclasp the belt. The problem is: Do you see those ammo pouches on his legs? The only way that the parachute will come off CrazyLeg's legs is if you are able to first remove those pouches - which I was loathe to do so. I didn't particularly mind that CrazyLegs did not come with additional gear such as perhaps a back-pack filled with food and water, because CrazyLegs is an Airborne Assault Trooper. He isn't meant to stay out there long. Crazylegs is meant to carry ammo, land, fight and hold out till reinforcements come. But seriously, that Parachute has to come off if Crazylegs wants to fight.  

In conclusion, I have to say that I like G.I. Joe Pursuit of Cobra CrazyLegs. He comes across as simple, but he's well articulated and comes with  practical accessories for his job description. Even the Power-Ranger outfit makes sense as - since CrazyLegs is a shock-trooper - reinforcements have to recognize him as soon as possible, so if he's dressed in colors that stand out, good for him. I purchased G.I. Joe Pursuit of Cobra CrazyLegs as  part of a set of six figures. In essence, I paid PhP 700 for him and I do believe he's worth it.
