Infinite Crisis Wonder Girl - Donna Troy

Presenting Donna Troy as she appeared as Wonder Girl during DC's Infinite Crisis.

Before Cassie Sandsmark added a pair of Levis and an Eagle breastplate to this iconic costume, the Red and Gold Star Spangled Tights - and the name Wonder Girl - were actually worn/used by Donna Troy - who later opted to don a similarly cut set of tights but more reflective of the black of space and drop any sense of hiding her secret identity.

I actually have both of them - Donna Troy as Wonder Girl and Donna Troy as... well Donna Troy - but a lot of people may have forgotten or missed the fact that once-upon-a-time Donna Troy was actually just a young girl following the footsteps of Wonder Woman, so I'm featuring her.


Truth be known, I'm not really sure why she died - battling a "Superbot" - or why she came back. I'm honestly not going to pretend that I understand DC's "Infinite Crisis" and I'm not really a fan of rebooting a comic book line just so that new readers, new generations can catch up. There was actually a big hullabaloo about how Donna Troy was killed and came back to life and influenced

But then it does beat Marvel's continuity problems that are usually just swept under the rug and forgotten - which includes the drastic changes in personalities and a plethora of forgotten history in the Marvel Civil War and the recent Avengers Vs. X-Men - that the Avengers won.

But I digress.

What's to like about the Infinite Crisis Wonder Girl - Donna Troy?

Well if you're looking for an action figure with the build, look and appearance of a nubile, young woman blossoming into woman-hood but who still has the innocent gaze and the gentle soft belly of a young girl just starting to harden into the body of a warrior, then I've got a figure for you.

I mean seriously we can debate for hours whether the curves of her belly are hardened muscles or the vestiges of baby-fat leaning out to hardened muscle. It's a very young looking body. The sculptor made sure that it did not possess the hardened body nor the full bosom or buttocks of the Infinite Crisis Wonder Woman.

That's about it.


What's NOT to like about the Infinite Crisis Wonder Girl - Donna Troy?

I did mention that the Infinite Crisis Wonder Woman is, hands down, one of the worst - if not THE worst - crafted action figures in the Dungeon. Unfortunately Wonder Girl here is not far behind.

I'm not talking just about the simplicity of the figure. There are simpler figures in the Dungeon. I can accept and appreciate simplicity.

I'm talking about the fact that:

1. She can barely move - Hey! It's DC Direct! What were you expecting? What little articulation she has, just like the Infinite Crisis Wonder Woman, is hampered by her sculpt i.e. (if you noticed the first photo) raising her legs at the hip area closes her legs; her hair prevents her from moving her head around, etc...
2. As with the Infinite Crisis Wonder Woman, there is again something wrong with her proportions. While I can appreciate small hips, The Infinite Crisis Wonder Girl - Donna Troy practically has NO hips at all. At times she honestly looks like a girl who has just discovering how painful it is to walk in heels. This action figure needs a butt. I've never seen anything so flat. 
3. Anybody else notice the "Deer in the Headlights" eyes?
4. And her not-so-magical lasso (really, it isn't. Unlike Wonder-Woman's) tends to jut out most awkwardly. 

The DC Infinite Crisis Wonder Girl - Donna Troy is available on Amazon for a paltry US$ 13.99 (Roughly PhP 573.60 plus shipping). I would not recommend her unless you're a Wonder-Woman or Donna Troy fan and wish to just keep your collection complete. If you're not and are looking for  great DC toys to supplement your really "action" figure collection, this is not the one for you.
