Presenting Jedi Knight Pablo Jill from the Star Wars Black Series Toyline.
This is without a doubt, the weirdest looking Jedi Knight - and possible even the weirdest looking alien - in our Star Wars collection.
Pablo Jill was a Jedi Knight who served in the Republic. He's an Ongree - an amphibious species whose eyes were mounted on independently mobile stalks that allowed them to look at objects from multiple perspectives (Which also created a philosophy and mind-set by which the Ongree lived by).
And that's not the only reason why he's weird. Jedi Knight Pablo Jill's mouth is on the top of his head; he's got incredibly long arms; he's hunchbacked; and his legs look like they've been broken (more than birds legs).
Is that F'up'd or what?
The Star Wars Black Series Pablo Jill's blister card reads: "Pablo Jill is an Ongree Jedi Knight who battles separatist forces during the battle of Geonosis" Which is not exactly where we first saw him if I am correct. He is also not the Ongree who appears in the Jedi council.
The Blister card does not go on to say that Jedi Knight Pablo Jill would meet his end at the hands of the Cyborg General Greivous during the Battle of Coruscant. He and a team of Jedi boarded Greivous' ship and attempted to rescue the captured Republic Chancellor. He was killed, ejected into space as a point of inspiration for the Separatists and a demoralizing factor for the Republic forces, and his light-saber was added to General Greivous' collection.
What's to like about the Star Wars Black Series Jedi Knight Pablo Jill?
That is one F'ed up dude! His weirdness and sheer creepiness worthy of a twisted character found in the depths of hell of some B-Horror story makes him worth collecting - no, he did not say a single word in the movies.
You know what? After a while we kinda realized that's exactly what we want Jar-Jar Binks to look like after we beat the crap out of him!
Hell Jar-jar would have been more lovable if this is what he looked like.
You really have to appreciate the macabre that went into Pablo Jill's face. It really makes us shudder sometimes. He's someone we do not want to see in a dark alley or room or be trapped in an elevator with. Even his body says he's twisted:
The Black Series Jedi Knight Pablo Jill comes with everything you see above - a lit lightsaber - no unlit saber, and a very nice cloak which, given his rather grotesque frame - folds nicely around him. We had to hold his hood - when up - in place though with blue-tack.
Despite his features, articulation is surprisingly pretty good. There is some difficulty with balance given Pablo Jill's chicken legs but otherwise he was a darling to pose:
We love how Pablo Jill's cloak floats around him. He looks horrible without it.
What's to like about the Star Wars Black Series Jedi Knight Pablo Jill?
Well he'll never be pretty I suppose and we'll always try to turn my head upside down when we see him.
But otherwise, nothing much! Pablo Jill is a finely sculpted figure with excellent articulation and excellent accessories. Of course we had to tack his cloak in place and we would have appreciated an unlit lightsaber and he does have some difficulty grasping his blade given the size of his hands - perhaps Disney should start customizing the lightsabers of their jedi like they did with A'Sharad Hett et.al
Still a great, no a must have piece - if only to freak out those who look at your collection when you are not looking.
This particular figure was purchased from the Black Market in St. Francis Square for PhP 890. He's available on Amazon for US$ 10.09 (Roughly PhP 500 plus shipping).
Think we got robbed there.
