On a totally unrelated point, there was this question posted on Facebook recently: "Who would win in a fight? Batman or the Incredible Hulk?"
Now we know what you're thinking: Batman beats Superman; Superman beats the Hulk, ergo: Batman beats the Hulk. The logic is sound.
Except that the Hulk has no Kryptonite.
The Incredible Hulk is nigh indestructible. The only way to beat the Hulk is to be bigger and badder - and that's rare following the near destruction of the Super-hero population of the Marvel Universe at the hands of a righteously angry Hulk.
So why is he wearing armor?
Well the grape-vine on the armor is that it is not for the Hulk's protection, but rather for the protection of Bruce Banner when he's in human form. Quite plausible, though personally we think they just added the armor - and the crew-cut - to make the Incredible Hulk seem "Cooler"
The Marvel Infinite Series Incredible Hulk's blister card reads "For years, Bruce Banner fought against his other self, hoping to repress or destroy the Hulk, now they work in concert - Banner using his brilliance and the Hulk applying his raging strength when intelligence fails." If you've been following the Hulk in the Avengers recently, you know that banner failing and the Hulk popping out seems to happen quite a lot nowadays.
The Infinite Series Hulk's armor is modular. You can remove the upper torso chest-piece and the two fore-arm pieces to create a more.... regular looking Hulk. Though there is nothing you can do about removing the really big boots and the "Stark Was here" belt.
What's to like about the Marvel Infinite Series Incredible Hulk?
Well as I think we've discussed before, we here at the Dungeon really don't like the Hulk - though we do have a soft spot for the Sensational She-Hulk and the Red She-Hulk - but we do LOVE this figure!
Yes there have been Incredible Hulks before this with similar builds, but just take a look at the Incredible Hulk's face! At one angle you have the defiant anger that spits at the odds and dares the impossible. At another angle, you have the mindless beast.
We love it! In one figure we have both the hero and the mindless raging beast that is the Hulk! At a certain angle it even seems like his eyes are glowing a blazing yellow:
There is some difficulty making him kneel (HULK DON'T KNEEL!!!) thanks to the thickness of his boots:
We at the Dungeon do favor turning him though into the Rampaging Hulk!
You definitely want to get out of the way of that!
What's NOT to like about the Marvel Infinite Series Incredible Hulk?
Well sometimes he looks like he just wants to take a huge dump. Maybe we should buy a 1:18 toilet.
Naturally the Marvel Infinite Series Incredible Hulk is top heavy so you have to admire the fact that we got some of these shots off. Most of the time he was too busy toppling over.
You've probably also noticed how his massive fists are curved inward. It makes him look kinda awkward when he punches.
And lastly his forearm guards aren't really locked in place. They keep moving down his arm or falling off.
This particular Marvel Universe Infinite Series Hulk was purchased as part of a set from Toy Kingdom Megamall here in the Philippines for PhP 750. Hulk is available on Amazon for US$ 10.99 (Roughly PhP 494.75 plus shipping). He's a steal!
