Marvel Legends Black Widow

Presenting the hard-to-find Black Widow from the Marvel Legends Captain America the Winter Soldier Series.

It really took a long time to find her. We're not sure if this is because Marvel wanted a female chase figure or because a lot of people like the Mandroid BAF and are chasing her because she has the connecting torso for the Mandroid. We have seen people complain "How does Marvel expect us to army build Mandroids?"

We believe it's a toss up. There are those like us who don't care about the Mandroid and just want the hot Marvel Action figure, and there are those who just want the Mandroid (This is supported by the fact that she's quite common, loose on ebay where she still goes for quite a high price). So the Marvel Legends Black Widow is Hard-to-find, not rare. There is one on Amazon for US$ 34.99 plus shipping (Roughly PhP 1,539.56 plus shipping).


The Marvel Legends Captain America The Winter Soldier Black Widow's blister card (Wow that's a mouthful!) simply reads "Black Widow: Former spy and deadly assasin Natasha Romanoff may have red in her ledger, but Black Widow plans to settle accounts!"

The Marvel Legends Black Widow comes with two heads, and two sets of replaceable hands. The heads reflects the Black Widow's hairstyles as depicted in the Avengers movie and in the Captain America The Winter Soldier movie. We're kinda disappointed that Marvel did not bother to provide a third head so that we have her hairstyle (As long as the wavy haired head, but curly) from when she first appeared in Iron Man 2.

What's to like about the Marvel Legends Captain America the Winter Soldier Black Widow?

FIRST off is the undeniably excellent articulation. One of the things we noted about the recently reviewed Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy Gamora was that she and the Black Widow shared similar body molds.

So we were pleasantly surprised when we discovered that they didn't and that the Marvel Legends Black Widow can actually...er.... open her legs (Which was a problem that plagued Gamora).

Yes, the Black Widow can kneel and as you can see, she's quite flexible:

(SECOND) But the real fun starts when you swap out her hands and give the Marvel Legends Black Widow weapons!

The THIRD thing we love about the Marvel Legends Black Widow is all the nice detailing that went into her costume. It almost looks like you can remove her corset or even undo her gunbelt. She's just as finely sculpted as the Captain America figure.

What's NOT to like about the Marvel Legends Captain America the Winter Soldier Black Widow?

The first thing wrong with the Marvel Legends Black Widow was already discussed when we reviewed the Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy Gamora - The dead face. Both heads look like the Black Widow is stoned.

Honestly posing the Black Widow was a dream with the high flexibility. But getting a good shot out of her was almost impossible because half the time she looked dead or like a super-model who couldn't care less if I could get a good shot or not.

The SECOND problem with the Marvel Legends Black Widow is that the guns portrayed in this pictorial are not hers. Her articulation is so high that she can actually grasp those two pistols that are in their holsters on her hips. However those pistols are stuck there. the Black Widow cannot actually draw those. So we had to improvise with other pistols.

This particular Marvel Legends Captain America the Winter Soldier Black Widow was purchased from Kramer's Toy Warden Collectibles Store here in the Philippines for PhP 1,500 (Roughly US$ 34).
