Takara Decepticon Slipstream

Takara Decepticon Slipstream
The time has come to purge the universe of that accursed Megatron!
And forever seal my destiny as the one true ruler of the Decepticons!

The Decepticon Slipstream from Takara is purple, green, smiling and a fine representation of the robotic female form.

Personally we're still mystified that a robotic race bothers with gender - to the point that recently, IDW did a "Spotlight: Arcee" issue where it was revealed that during the Golden Age of Cybertron, a scientist named Jhiaxus decided to play with the Cyber/Nano Algorithms (CNA) of Cybertronians, creating female robots. Jhiaxus tried to build the perfect female Transformer - Arcee - but she fell short of his ideals and he discarded her.

Which created a very pissed off woman.

Later IDW decided to take this concept further by revealing that Anode and her lover, Lug, were transgender Transformers in transition - so Transforming Transgender Transformers. Seriously WTF!!!!

Takara Decepticon Slipstream boxTakara Decepticon Slipstream boxAnyway, this is Slipstream, the only female Decepticon Seeker. She's basically a retool of Windblade - with a new head (No removable fan) and she comes armed with arm mounted null-ray cannons instead of the sword that  Windblade  comes with. This design was again reused by Airazor from the Beast Wars.

Her Takara Designation is LG 16, and her blister pack is in Japanese so we don't know what it says. This is what her wiki has to say about her though: "The only thing sharper than Slipstream's acerbic tongue is her keen mind—whether as a soldier or a spy-for-hire, she gets that job done and always keep her true agenda shielded. Sometimes she's known to be a clone of Starscream; in other times and places, nobody knows where she comes from at all. Who is Slipstream? Someone fast, deadly, and able to shield her energy signature is all you need to know.

Slipstream keeps herself a blank slate, but she's certainly got Starscream's legendarily volcanic temperament!"

Takara Decepticon Slipstream
Death has never looked so beautiful
WHAT'S TO LIKE ABOUT THE TAKARA DECEP-TICON SEEKER SLIP-STREAM?

FIRST: While Slipstream may not have the beauty and intricate detail that designer Lenny Panzica put into the design of Windblade's head, Slipstream's facial design is also quite unique. It's a very feminine interpretation of the traditional Seeker face.

To make things even cooler, Slipstream is smiling!

It's a sweet and endearing smile that'll make you feel warm and fuzzy inside while she's dissecting you.

We're also quite fond of the metallic-purple paint-job.

SECOND:  As with Windblade, Slipstream comes with excellent articulation. You can fold her wings back or keep them extended, and she can twist at the waist.

I embraced who I am and I don't want to stop
THIRD We really like how the metallic purple and green mix together in her plane mode:

WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE ABOUT THE TAKARA DECEP-TICON SEEKER SLIP-STREAM?

FIRST: She shares the same design problems as Windblade which means:

  • She's top heavy and tends to keel over especially since her "Heels" don't really support her.
  • She's got the same gaping holes in the side of her torso.
  • Her leg design keeps her from kneeling.
  • She has the same horizontal coin slot right above her bikini line.
  • Even if you follow the instructions to the dot, her hover-plane mode isn't the best.
SECONDAdding to her problems is the fact that Slipstream's null-ray arm cannons don't really have a place in her plane mode - or we didn't find it. You can leave them on her arms, but they'd be mounted pointing slightly to her nosecone.

The Takara LG-16 Decepticon Seeker Slipstream is available on Amazon for US$ 46.62 (Roughly PhP 2,424 plus shipping).

A must have if you love Febmots - or for any Seeker Collection.
