Presenting Transformers Generations: Warpath. I chanced upon Transformers Generations Warpath while trying to raise my spirits on a Saturday morning in Toy Kingdom in Powerplant Mall. So I got it for the local retail price of PhP 699.75. It retails on the black-market for as much as PhP 1,400. Is it worth it at that price? In my opinion a resounding "NO!" But it is a nice figure to have. If you're buying it on e-bay or through the internet, you should know that there is a Transformers Universe Warpath that is Legends class but looks very similar to the Transformers Generations Warpath Deluxe class. So make sure you clear that before you commit to buying anything on the internet, you might end up with a small tiny figure (Which actually isn't so bad, keep it).
Transformers Generations Warpath's blister pack reads "Wherever the fight is, that's where Warpath wants to be. His super heavy armor and powerful weapons mean he doesn't have to worry about things like orders or tactics. He just heads straight for wherever the fighting is heaviest, pouring fire into the enemy, and hoping there's something left standing to give him a good fight when he gets there." The funny part is that the blister pack only lists Transformers Generations Warpath's fireblast as a 7 out of 10. I would have expected more from the Autobot's Tank Commander.
On to the good news:
True to the line, Transformers Generations Warpath is a wonderful tribute to the cartoon version of Warpath as can be seen here. The biggest difference is the switch from Warparth's original General Motors M551A1 Sheridan ARAAV tank to Transformers Generations Warpath's "H" tank which looks incredibly like the Halo M8O8B "Scorpion" Battle Tank.
Transformers Generations Warpath also pays tribute to the onomatopoeia filled speech patterns of the cartoon Warpath via the ID markers on the side of the tank.
Transformers Generations Warpath's tank mode isn't unfortunately as solid from the rear. Transformers Generations Warpath's turret turns a full 360 degrees and elevates around 15 to 20 degrees up and down. Unfortunately in Robot mode, Transformers Generations Warpath cannot turn his waist and the turret at best moves only around 2 degrees left and right. Which isn't so bad. I have a feeling that Warpath is meant to turn his entire body if he wants to fire his cannon in robot mode. It adds... a certain character to the figure.
You can even open up panels on either side of Transformers Generations Warpath to reveal what looks like engines.
Transformers Generations Warpath's turret is normally retracted when he is in robot mode, however it can still be telescoped out - though personally I feel that there's a very dirty joke somewhere there when you do. We should note at this point that Transformers Generations Warpath's feet are stuck where they are, they can turn left and right, but they do not have the ball joint that will allow his feet to go flat on the surface.
On to the BAD news:
Well actually there's only one thing I don't like other than his feet, Transformers Generations Warpath comes with a missile that he can launch from a turret mounted rocket launcher from his turret in tank mode or from his shoulder in robot mode. The missile is extremely long and it looks like another turret. Frankly he looks better without it.
Am I coming or going? |
Hey Wheeljack! Weren't you taller than me in the cartoons? |
Hi! You're a copy-right infringement of my ride |
