Presenting the Black Widow from the Marvel Universe Avengers Assemble Series - AKA the Inferno Cannon Black Widow.
No the Avengers Assemble 3.5" Black Widow does NOT come with that rifle. That's courtesy of a GI Joe Retaliation Crimson Guard figure that's waiting for its photoshoot - it just looks cool in her arms.
Natalia "Natasha" Alianovna Romanova is the soviet super-spy turned Avenger, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D, lover of Daredevil, Winter Soldier and, get this, Hercules (never really saw that coming), the Black Widow.
This version of the Black Widow is off the Avengers Assemble cartoon that features a team consisting of the Hulk, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Captain America, the Falcon, & the Black Widow.
The Avengers Assemble Black Widow mentions that she comes armed with S.H.I.E.L.D. Gear and has this to say on the blister pack "To defend Earth against the galaxy's greatest threats, S.H.I.E.L.D. builds powerful battle gear for the Avengers!" Doesn't really say much about the Black Widow.
The rest of the blister card merely talks about her S.H.I.E.L.D. gear: specifically an Inferno Cannon which works with most other S.H.I.E.L.D. gear figures (Well it is a hand-held weapon) and has "Blazing missle blasts!"
What's to like about the Avengers Assemble Series Black Widow?
There is some flash plastic on her jaw and you can all see the missing red paint where her hair meets the side of her head, but nothing that a paint-brush and a steady hand can't fix.
Give her Avengers Movie Black Widow's guns or G.I. Joe weapons for some really cool poses:
Black Widow's Inferno Cannon doesn't look that bad actually - unless you load the missile:
Not that she needs weapons to look great, and Black Widow has her stingers:
And the Avengers Assemble Series Black Widow can kneel:
What's NOT to like about the Avengers Assemble Series Black Widow?
I'm usually quite critical about plastic flash and bad paint jobs but I think the fact that she's so pretty nullifies my need to attack this figure.
The only thing really wrong with this figure is Black Widow's lack of articulaton at the waist level making her quite stiff. Also if you look closely, she has two belts on - the golden one, and you can make out the Widow's mark belt behind that - that's what happens when you re-purpose a figure.
This particular Marvel Universe Avengers Assemble Black widow was purchased from Toy Kingdom in Podium for PhP 699.75 (Roughly US$ 15.90). She is available on Amazon for US$ 17.95 (Roughly PhP 789.80 plus shipping).
A must have.
Now we have to point out at this point that while Black Widow's face is new, her body is a repaint/re-accessorized version of the Avengers Movie Black Widow.
