To the uninitiated, and following the IDW continuity, Chromia is one of two bodyguards who were chosen to protect the Metroplex Cityspeaker Windblade.
The three eventually became something of an active immune system for Metroplex, protecting and clearing his innards from an invading army of Ammonites. It is while performing this duty that Chromia and her fellow guard Nautica encountered the crew of the Lost Light
They form an alliance with the Lost Light crew and the Lost Light gives Metroplex a jump allowing him to spacebridge back to Cybertron in time to battle and defeat the Necrotitan.
Chromia remained as Windblade's loyal bodyguard following the battle.
Onto the bad news: Despite the popularity of the female Autobots (Specifically Chormia and Arcee), Hasbro in all its wisdom seems to have limited the production of the three.
They don't benefit from making them chase figures, so it's more likely that their product development group still involves people who don't collect toys i.e. people who believe that the shelf-warming 1 and 3 step changer Transformers are the wave of the future because kids find their toys too complex to transform, and; people who believe that boys would not want to play or collect female Transformers - because they're girl-toys and girls are yucky.
Our Arcee is still in transit, so for now we're just lucky to have found a Chromia. Her blister card reads "Chromia is a master of infiltration, sabotage and the kind of tactical counterstrikes that crush an opponent's morale. Unfazed by any enemy or situation, she can always be counted on to step up when her team's in a tight spot." She's a saboteur. Probably shouldn't have gone with the baby blue color then. The blister pack goes on to list her stats as follows:
- Strength: 7
- Intelligence: 7
- Speed: 8
- Endurance: 6
- Rank: 6
- Courage: 9
- Fireblast: a very respectful 8
- Skill: A disappointing 5 for someone who is supposed to be a saboteur.
What's to like about TF Generations Chromia?
FIRST: Chromia has one of the nicest transformation processes we've seen in a while. Get her running and pop her "skates" out. She can skate around for a while and then Chromia reaches down and mounts her rifle on her leg. From there she compresses and folds into herself til she becomes a bike worthy of Tron.
Still while we love Transformers Generations Chromia's transformation, we have a strange feeling that we've seen this transformation before, but we just can't figure out where we've seen it. It feels vaguely familiar.
Still quite enjoyable:
SECOND: Transformers Generations Chromia's bike mode is quite compact and solid when transformed properly. It slightly reminds us of the Tron lightcycles. Note the kickstand:
THIRD: The high articulation: Transformers Generations Chromia can dual wield her primary weapon and kneel:
FIRST: Chromia has a freakish amount of kibble back there and it does hamper her articulation. If follow the instructions 100% and don't move the plates covering her glutes back, her leg articulation disappears. Also note how much difficulty we had making her kneel thanks to those wheels.
The kibble around her forearms also prevents her from dual-wielding her rifle while looking down its sights as her wrists are blocked by the forearm extensions.
SECOND: The rarity - and therefore the price. Finding her locally is very difficult. Your best option would be to go to Amazon where she is available for US$ 16.15 (Roughly 726.75 plus shipping). We paid roughly the same amount to BigBoysToystore (Thanks for citing the error Juwat!) in Fisher Mall here in Manila for her.
Can't wait for Arcee.
Hey Cassio! I've been thinking about that, which one? Beast Hunters?
ReplyDeleteThe Beast Hunters one is a retool of the PRID Deluxe Arcee, same mold.
ReplyDeleteWhen you said bigbad toystore, did you mean bigboys?
ReplyDeleteOh yeah! Thanks for that. Yup. BigBoys
