Marvel Legends Agent 13 Sharon Carter |
Captain America: Civil War breaks into tho the big screen next week and Emily VanCamp will be reprising her role as SHIELD Agent 13, Sharon Carter - although this time she isn't an Agent of SHIELD, she's a CIA agent.... so she probably won't go by the code-name Agent 13.
In the comic books - upon which this Marvel Legends figure is based upon, Sharon Carter is the niece (retconned) of Margaret "Peggy" Carter, the original paramour of Steve Rogers, Captain America. It hasn't been established in the movie version if she is related to Haley Atwell's character, but genetically due to the lack of "heavenly blessings" we would say no.
Two other things that Agent 13, Sharon Carter is best known for carrying the child of Steve Rogers, which was lost in combat, and for "killing" Steve Rogers while under the hypnotic control of Dr. Faustus - she later discovered that the gun she used didn't kill him but displaced him in time, and was integral in the return of Captain America. Her blister card simply reads: "Armed with fierce athleticism and superior smarts, these expert agents serve the forces of justice."

Our thoughts are currently preoccupied with "What would the son/daughter of Captain America be like?" Especially since we've all seen Daken, the son of Wolverine.
We wouldn't be surprised if it's one day revealed that the fetus was taken from her by the Red Skull to grow on his own.
Anyway, the FIRST thing we like about Agent 13, Sharon Carter is the fact that she doesn't come with a deadpan face. We now have a face filled with contempt, but at least it's an expression,
Now the question becomes: Which face of Sharon Carter you prefer? The pony-tailed angry fighter? Or the long blonde haired girl-next door?

SECOND: At first we thought that she was a resculpt of the Marvel Legends Captain America: Winter Soldier Black Widow, but she's not. She suffers the same problem as the Widow in the sense that she comes with holstered pistols that she cannot draw, but it's a new body. We're particularly fond of the detailing that went into her hair - and the fact that it does not disrupt her articulation. Marvel Legends Agent 13 Sharon Carter's head sculpt is so fine, we THIRD would not be surprised if she becomes a chase figure so that modders can create 6" GI Joe Scarlett figures.
FOURTH: Her articulation is excellent. As you've seen above, yes Agent Carter can kneel.
Agent 13 looks better with a stand:
What's NOT to like about the Marvel Legends Agent 13 Sharon Carter?
FIRST: We think the biggest problem with this figure is that there isn't anything special about her. Sharon Carter, Agent 13 is probably more exciting to those who specifically read Captain America or the Secret Avengers, but.... she does nothing for us. Maybe after the Captain America: Civil War movie where Emily VanCamp claims she will play both sides of the field. Til then she's of value for us as a potential custom body for a 6" GI Joe Scarlett.
SECOND: This is petty, but she's kinda tan for someone who has always been portrayed in the comic books as really white. Even Emily VanCamp isn't this tan. We understand she's a New Yorker. Maybe she went somewhere warm for a tan. It's nice to have some color, but her original incarnation is definitely closer to her comic-book version.
THIRD: Agent Sharon Carter, Agent 13 has a natural slouch. You have to really push her chest out to correct it.
That's about it. It may or may not be worth more to us after the movie. Currently she is available on Amazon for US$ 22.51 (Roughly PhP 1,057.97 plus shipping).
