DC SuperHeroes Supergirl Action Figure

DC SuperHeroes Supergirl Action Figure
Presenting the DC Superheroes Supergirl Action Figure.

This particular figure has actually been sitting in the Dungeon for years. We recently aired it out of storage and decided to shoot it given the recent popularity of the Supergirl TV series.

If you watched the pilot, this midriff bearing outfit was actually considered by the Maiden of Might - as designed and sewn by her "frienzoned" friend Winn (We of course assumed at the time that he was gay - but apparently not). Anyway, the TV series opted to use the original Supergirl costume that first debuted in 1958. The figure here features a costume that first debuted in 2003 upon the return of Kara Zor El to the DC universe.

People are actually still wondering why Supergirl bothers to fight crime in a skirt.

New 52 Supergirl Action figure

Presenting a Kara Zor-El - Supergirl action figure from the DC New 52 toyline.

Too bad DC decided to create her New 52 Red and blues instead of placing Supergirl in her more recent Red Lantern costume.

Yes to the uninitiated, having been born to a life of strife, loss and death, the New 52 Supergirl is no longer that teenager trying to find her place in the world, and has instead released her anger and joined the dark side as a member of Guy Gardner's Red Lantern Corp - where cursing your enemy usually results in his/her being barbecued.

Frankly we think that the Red Lantern costume is an improvement.

Anyway, prior to that, this less "Gifted" (nudge, nudge, win, wink) cousin of Superman - whom she has fought to a standstill - appears here in the a quite unique remodeling of the traditional Supergirl uniform.

DC Elseworld's Finest Supergirl

Presenting Supergirl from the DC Elseworld's Finest one-shot.

To the uninitiated, Supergirl is Kara Zor-El. This is of course an alternate universe separate from the main-stream DC universe (Elseworld, duh) where she is the last survivor not of Krypton, but of the destroyed Argo City. Sent to Earth.

In this reality, Kryptonians were actually aware of Earth's heroes and Supergirl grew up dreaming of joining their ranks. It is not disclosed what destroyed Krypton and, later, Argo City, but she is sent to Earth as a teenager and is welcomed into the ranks of the Justice Society of America and rises to become it's greatest and most popular hero just like her mainstream counterpart.

In this Elseworld however, Batman doesn't exist. Instead Barbara Gordon defends Gotham as Batgirl and has successfully seceded Gotham City from the rest of the United States to the point that no-metahuman can enter Gotham, where they are banned, without suffering dire consequences. Even the mighty Justice Society of America led by Wonder Woman cannot enter Gotham unless it's under Batgirl's terms.
