Star Wars Saga Ayy Vida, Bar Patron |
Ayy Vida's claim to fame comes from the aforementioned cut scene in Episode II. It happens when Obi-Wan Kenobi walks into a bar - sounds like a joke, but isn't - while pursuing the bounty hunter/assassin known as Zam Wesell.

Ayy Vida is seen for a moment as one of the bar's patrons right before Obi-Wan Kenobi is offered Deathsticks and he uses the Force to alter the thinking of Deathstick dealer Elan Sel'Sabagno.

This will be a short review - we'll discuss why later.
Star Wars Saga Ayy Vida, Bar Patron |
FIRST: She actually has a backstory. We always found it intriguing that Star Wars bothered to make back stories for extras. Literally Lucas didn't have to, but she has a backstory. It brought us back to our theatre days when you even extras had to come up with their backstories so that their actors could feel their part, their motivations and justify their actions in a play.
They could also have gotten several extras to play different characters but Karina Wakefield only played one character.
Karina Wakefield actually has a website for Ayy Vida. Check it out here.
Which is testimony to just how much money was thrown into the making of Episode II.
Bar Patron Ayy Vida's backstory is as follows: "The consort of local crime boss Hat Lo, the beautiful Twi'lek Ayy Vida has been tainted by the criminal underworld. She continues to look for an opportunity to escape Lo's repressive clutches. After catching the eye of a dapper Republic Guard one night at the Outlander nightclub, she hopes the guard will rescue her. Her hope is in vain for he is an impostor, one of many poseurs who frequent the clubs for their own nefarious purposes."
Ayy Vida's wookiepedia goes on to describe her as an assassin who uses her dancing skills to lure her victims close.
SECOND: The Star Wars Saga Ayy Vida, Bar Patron has a very nicely sculpted and toned body. She definitely has the lithe smooth muscular body of a dancer and the poise to back it up.

FIRST: After all is said and done, this figure has seven (7) points of articulation, allowing her to.... sit on a bar stool, nothing more.
And while she sits quite nicely, she can't even properly hold onto her glass.
No weapons, no other accessories, just a chair and a glass.
SECOND: Ayy Vida, as she appears in the movie, does not have a slave collar. This Ayy Vida has one prominently placed around her neck.
Quite a sexist statement.
Seriously, the only reason that you would get this figure is if you were working on completing a Coruscant bar scene - though she would fit right in as well in Jabba's Palace and in the Mos Eisley Cantina.
Wish she could be posed better. But she has a nice story.
