Transformers Titans Return Blurr and Hyperfire

Presenting the Blurr and the Headmaster Hyperfire from the Transformers Titans Return toyline.

If our memory serves us correctly: Blurr was never originally a Headmaster. He's a Targetmaster - which means his gun transformed into a mini-Autobot. However it was because Blurr lost a race (We know right? How'd that happen?) to Hot Rod (Yes the guy who got Optimus Prime killed) while Daniel Witwicky was driving or partnered with Hot Rod, that Brainstorm started espousing the benefits of having a "pilot" merged with the Autobots.

Daniel would later be injured in combat and to save his life, Brainstorm turned Arcee's head into a cockpit/exosuit and Daniel became the first Headmaster - also creating in the process, the first Transgender Transformer - and ending the crush that many of us had on Arcee.

Sometime later in the comic books, following a battle with Scorponok, Blurr agreed to become a Headmaster because he was infected with - we kid you not - Blackballs!

Blurr's blister pack reads "The Autobots unite with Titan Master partners to power up for battle! Hyperfire boosts the speed of Blurr even further - some bots say even fast enough to outrun blaster fire."

WHAT'S TO LIKE ABOUT THE TRANSFORMERS TITAN WAR BLURR AND HEADMASTER HYPERCHARGE?

FIRST: Blurr is very nicely molded. The design is, of course, based upon his G1 appearance, but with some liberties taken - so he looks like the G1 Blurr from the cartoons, but with some liberties taken.

The most obvious diffrences are Blurr's color scheme and Hyperfire's transformation. Blurr's color scheme is different. The cartoon Blurr had a lot more spots of teal on his body than Hasbro's incarnation.

Hyperfire transforms into a rather blockish head for Blurr. The G1 Blurr had a roundish centurion like head.

But the form and substance of what Blurr should be is there.

You can even opt to keep his G1 Cartoon appearance by attaching his shield to his back instead - it does not interfere or hamper his transformation at all, or; you could opt to arm Blurr with a shield so as to match his G1 Toy appearance instead.

Here's a closeup of Blurr's head/Hyperfire - which is "blocky" rather than curvy. Apparently Blurr has blue eyes, making him a future candidate to carry the Autobot matrix of leadership.

And here is Blurr with his shield attached to his back and with his shield mounted on his left arm. Note how Blurr's back is still solid and not hollow with or without the shield, the only "hollowness he has is in his forearms and, behind his chest-plate, and,  if you bother looking, under his feet. Even his legs are solid.

Height-wise, he's around the same height as a Generations Kup Transformer, and slightly taller than Arcee, which makes him perfect for anybody trying to complete the Transformers movie line-up.

SECOND: Articulation is excellent! There are some limitations though thanks to the fact that his shoulder pauldrons keep banging against his head, and he can't kneel.

But he can run!

THIRD: Blurr's car mode is even closer to his G1 look and is simply superb - save of course for the gun sticking out from under him. Blurr runs on dowels underneath his hull:

There's not much to say about Hyperfire. He's pretty typical for a headmaster. We're glad they gave him mounting studs though on Blurr's sides so it looks like he's about to get into Blurr's cockpit. Other than the seat and some console dials there's not much detailing inside Blurr's cockpit.

WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE ABOUT THE TRANSFORMERS TITAN WAR BLURR AND HEADMASTER HYPERCHARGE?

FIRST: Aside from the limitations to Blurr's articulation, Hyperfire's transformation, and the paint details, we can't say that we're really big fans about Blurr's shield transforming into a sled of sorts for Hyperfire. It's a bit too.... childish for us. Basically snap the shield off, pull out the landing strut, invert, and you have a gun-sled for Hyperfire.

TO make matters worse, you can actually attach the sled to Blurr like a side-car. It looks simply abysmal.

SECOND:  The gaping hole behind the translucent portion of Blurr's chest is disconcertingly empty. Makes you want to sing "If I only had a heart":

This particular Transformers Titans Returns Blurr and Hyperfire is available on Amazon for US$ 17.90 (Roughly PhP 815 plus shipping). This particular Wolverine was borrowed from a friend here in Fairview and set him back around PhP 799.75 (Roughly US$ 16.66)
