Marvel Legends Civil War Scarlet Witch |
To the uninitiated, this is the outfit that the Scarlet Witch wore when Captain America's team went toe-to-toe against Iron Man's team in the airport in Germany where she displayed an ability for short flight, telekinetic strength of incredible proportions, and a penchant for throwing German made cars. This is not the outfit that she is seen wearing at the end of Avengers - Age of Ultron.

Personally we'd love to have had her Age of Ultron "Schoolgirl" look. We thought that it was quite... fetching... and it suited Elizabeth Olsen.
We're certainly looking forward to her return in the Avengers and if her short incarceration on the Raft would have any effects on her mental heath.
MORE AFTER THE JUMP
The Marvel Legends Civil War Scarlet Witch's blister card simply reads: "Wanda Maximoff casts hexes on her enemies as the mystical super-being Scarlet Witch!"
The Scarlet Witch comes armed with two "Hex Power manifestations" that you can slide onto her hands like gloves, and the head of the Abomination. You need to collect all the other characters in the series to complete him.

WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE ABOUT THE MARVEL LEGENDS CIVIL WAR SCARLET WITCH?
Sadly, yes, we're starting with what we hate about her first.
FIRST: What the hell are those on her hands? They look like fireballs! She's not the Human Torch, or Sunfire, and she's certainly not the Green Goblin. Wanda Maximoff's power manifestations in the movie were intricate webs of pinkish energy, not these. We absolutely refused to use them in the photoshoot.
Seriously! WTF Marvel!!!!!
SECOND: The Marvel Legends Civil War Scarlet Witch looks nothing at all like the character that Elizabeth Olsen played in the movie. We daresay she's even a few pounds lighter than Elizabeth Olsen's rounder figure.
We're still debating whether she looks more like Kate Beckinsale from Van Helsing (Not from Underworld) or Jessica Biel from Blade:
Whoever she looks like, the Marvel Legends Civil War Scarlet Witch certainly does not look like Elizabeth Olsen. Which is sad since Marvel is capable of making character accurate action figures - just look at Jessica Alba. So this is a really big disappointment.
THIRD: The Marvel Legends Civil War Scarlet Witch loses some articulation in her upper torso, particularly on her shoulders, thanks to her trench-coat. The hair also interferes with her head articulation, but its not as bad as we originally thought it would be.
Happily that's all we hated about her.
FIRST: The Scarlet Witch is one incredibly detailed action figure! You have to appreciate and imagine the amount of work that must have gone into the creation of her mold. Check out the creases in her tights; the folds in her trench-coat and soft boots; the small rise of her belly beneath that ribbed corset. Simply beautiful.
We switched out those unsightly power manifestations with the hex manifestations from the Marvel Legends Infinite Series Scarlet Witch. We're not 100% happy with them since Wanda Maximoff wasn't manifesting any such round hexes in the movie, but it's certainly better than what she came with.

SECOND: The Scarlet Witch, if our memory serves us correctly, comes armed with an innovation we've only seen in GI Joes: advanced wrist articulation. Wanda's right hand can move up-and-down perpendicular to her wrist, while her left hand can move left-to-write parallel to her wrist. Her wrists combined with the wonderful molding of her fingers allows for some creative poses.
THIRD: The Scarlet Witch's articulation is excellent!
Throw in a stand:
Let's close with a look at the Scarlet Witch next to her Infinite Series version and the Civil War Captain America:
