The only member of the DC Trinity who actually stood toe-to-toe with the Cave Troll |
Would you believe that this particular figure was purchased in 2015 prior to the release of Batman vs Superman, and just arrived a week ago?
Never again.
Anyway, this is Mafex's recreation of Wonder Woman as portrayed by the beautiful Gal Gadot in the mess that is Batman vs Superman.
Personally we felt that Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman was one of THE best things to come from BvS, and we're really looking forward to her solo movie this year - despite the recent criticisms which have shifted from the sizeof her breasts to her apparent lack of underarm hair.
MORE AFTER THE JUMP
The MAFEX Wonder Woman Action Figure's blister card does not say much.
She comes with:
- Four pairs of hands - two open, gesturing hands; two closed fists; two hands that grip tightly, and; two hands that grip loosely
- The shield she uses in BvS (She sports two shields in her solo-movie trailer);
- A sword
- Two magic lassos - one folded, one slightly unraveled .
- A body harness, and;
- A really useful stand
You don't want me? |
This is one of those figures that we've come to regret purchasing - and yes, we did wait almost two years to regret it.
It is extremely unlikely that we will ever get anything from Mafex ever again.
FIRST: The joint system is crap, crap, crap! We're not just talking about the fact that our Wonder Woman came with a loose/defective elbow joint that looks like it's about to fall off. We're talking about how the hideous shoulder sockets and how you can make her slender-man taller by pulling both her legs down.
Look at two of these photos:
Notice that hideous carved out piece of flesh where her shoulder should be? It doesn't even help her hyper-extend her arm. But you can make her look like she's dislocated her shoulders and they drooped down.
Notice above how her posterior seems to jut forward away from where her crotch should be? That's because it does. She doesn't have a crotch per-se and as you can see below it makes her crotch look like a gaping hole (No pun there), and she looks longer than she should be.
Eyes up please! |
And despite having that gaping crotch, the Mafex Wonder Woman can no more cross her legs than Harley Quinn can:
SECOND: Her battle-harness is awkwardly loose and practically useless. No there's no sheath back there to carry her sword. No there's no hook there to carry her shield. The lower left side of her harness opposite her lasso forms a sword hook, but her sword's cross-guard isn't wide enough to keep it there. It is possible to lock her shield onto her back by pinning it with her sword, but in the trailers we've seen of the Wonder Woman movie, she can draw her sword while her shield remain on her back.
THIRD: As with the BvS Multiverse Wonder Woman from Mattel, the Mafex Wonder Woman looks NOTHING LIKE GAL GADOT!!!!
FOURTH: Mafex Wonder Woman's articulation is excellent IF you can: get her to stand; IF you her legs don't keep lowering themselves down; IF her battle-harness would stay in place; IF her lasso doesn't fall off; IF you used the stand to prop her up. But yeah, as you've seen, she can kneel and double wield her sword:
Gauntlets strong enough to block a Cave-Troll's heat vision |
Yes she can reach back to draw her sword |
Here's the Mafex BvS Wonder Woman with her magic lasso:
Wonder |
NOTHING!!!! Never again will be fooled by the likes of Mafex. All hail SHFigurarts!
We'd say the detailing that went into her, but frankly it's only slightly superior or on-par with that of the Wonder Woman from Mattel. This is more movie accurate - we love her bracelets - while Mattel tried to cartoon version theirs.
But... yeah, that's all we like about her.
This Medicom Action Figure - (MAF + EX) Mafex - of Wonder Woman is available on Amazon for US$ 41.40 (Roughly PhP 2,112 plus shipping).
Not worth it.
