Takara God Ginrai - Optimus Prime - Super Ginrai & Godbomber

Upgrades

God Ginrai - the product of the Takara LG-42 Godbomber upgrade - is the kind of upgrade that we’ve been waiting for, for a long, long, looong time.

And that's saying a lot.  If you go through this blog you'll find countless 3rd party upgrades. And we dare to state that, in terms of playability and sheer joy, the 3rd party upgrades have given us far, far more  happy-happy-joy-joy than their legit counterparts.

Check out some of our 3rd party upgrades by clicking here.

Then the LG-42 Godbomber came along.

We're glad that the toymaking gods are finally listening to their worshipers.

Iron Factory IF EX-14 Ultimate Commander God Ginrai / Optimus Prime Review

THERE'S SOMETHING ON MY BACK!!! GET IT OFF!!!!

Welcome to a quick review of the IF EX-14 Ultimate Commander - not God Ginrai or Optimus Prime depending upon the mode - from Iron Factory.

The early release packs of the Ultimate Commander from Iron Factory came with a nice bonus: IF EX-16A Alleria, The Lady Commander - AKA Elita One (Only NOT Elita One :) ) And not to be confused with their just announced EX-016 Pink Assassin which looks sooo coool) which is a very nice bonus from Iron Factory.

Iron Factory built the IF-EX04 City Commander figure. Feedback for this NOT-Ultra Magnus was favorable because Iron Factory built him to be compatible with the Transformers Generations Metroplex.

So they went and built an Optimus Prime.

Xovergen TF-02 God Armor

Presenting the TF-02 God Armor from Xovergen.

Is it weird that while it's meant to be pronounced Cross Over Gen, we prefer to use the uninformed reference of "Sovergen" which we've always seen as a bastardization of "Sovereign"

By the way, Autobot logos are from Reprolabels. The Xovergen TF-01 does not come with Autobot logos on his shoulders.

We're big fans of the Transformers Super-God Masterforce: God Ginrai so when the packaging of the Xovergen TF-01 promoted that Xovergen would be releasing a GodBomber upgrade soon, we counted the seconds before it would be released.

And it took quite a while.

Unfortunately we were quite disappointed.

Evasion Mode Optimus Prime DX9 Armor Upgrade

Presenting the DX9 Armor Upgrade for the Evasion Mode Optimus Prime.

To be more specific this is a DX9 Armor upgrade placed upon a Platinum Edition Evasion Mode Optimus Prime. We don't have the regular Hasbro version. We have the Takara version which you can check out in the Platinum Edition review, but somehow given all that chrome, the Armor Upgrade seemed best combined with something that had a lot of chrome as well.

The upgrade also technically doesn't create an Optimus Prime. It creates a Transtector - an empty shell body of Optimus Prime that's being animated by a Human Power-Master - hence the red eyes instead of the baby-blue eyes of leadership - or a PowerMaster Optimus Prime at best.

Transformers Super-God Masterforce: God Ginrai

Presenting the Transformers Super-God Masterforce God Ginrai. With the pending release of the Xovergen TrailerForce TF-01 Robot Mode (Third Party Powermaster Optimus Prime), I thought that it would be nice to take a look at this classic Autobot before he became obsolete.

It took me a while to figure out whether or not my God Ginrai was the 1988 release of God Ginrai or the more popular 2002 re-issue of the Transformer. Search the web and you'll find wikis telling you that the difference is in the eyes of the smaller Ginrai - with the 2002 re-issue having blue eyes - 1988 had red eyes. This Ginrai had baby-blue eyes indicating it is the 2002 model.

It got confusing because I had purchased Ginrai loose and had to purchase Godbomber separately - which makes my Godbomber a 1988 model as the 1988 Godbomber was sold in a separate package. The 2002 Godbomber was sold as a set with Ginrai.

We're not going to debate the pros and cons of this particular Transformer because it's a classic which means it can't really do much but rocks our socks off.

Transformers 3rd Party Xovergen TrailerForce-01 God Ginrai

More-and-more images of the upcoming 3rd Party Xovergen Trailerforce-01 upgrade for Transformers G1 and Classics/Henkei Optimus Prime to transform them to something akin to God Ginrai, are filling the market.

I have to admit that when news first started coming out about the Trailerforce-01 upgrade, my eyes were rolling thinking that I would need to go buy another Classics/Henkei Optimus Prime - what with my Classics busy wearing my Parallax upgrade and my Henkei Prime wearing my TAW Sword Upgrade. I really don't feel like acquiring another Classics/Henkei Optimus Prime.

Happily, this particular Optimus Prime Upgrade accepts the G1 Optimus Prime. Though I probably would have to get another one because my G1 Optimus Prime is currently busy with my BTS-03 Prime Matrix Upgrade.
