Two days ago the internet was abuzz that the Fantastic Four's movie rights had finally been traded off by Fox back to Marvel in exchange for two X-Men TV show rights. (HEY CHECK OUT OUR THOUGHTS ON THE 2015 FANTASTIC FOUR MOVIE HERE!)
Unfortunately this turned out to be a big hoax and both Marvel and Fox have since denied the rumor.
But it still made us want to feature our remaining Marvel Legends scale Fantastic Four 2005 action figure: The Invisible Woman.
This is actually the Fantastic 4 Power Blast Invisible Woman Action Figure fully visible variant. There's a variant that has her partially invisible (Lower torso and lower arms), and; a variant that's completely invisible. We were unfortunately unable to locate her power base as of this shoot.
The Jessica Alba Invisible Woman Action Figure or Fantastic 4 Power Blast Invisible Woman Action Figure's blister pack reads: "Brilliant and beautiful scientist Sue Storm headed up Victor von Doom's research department at his world-famous Institute for Science. She is reunited with her old boyfriend Reed Richards when von Doom’s company agrees to fund a space mission to test his scientific theory on evolution. Sue signed on as a member of the crew—a decision that would forever change her life. After the fateful accident, Sue is left with the ability to make herself disappear. As the Invisible Woman she is also able to generate invisible force fields and fire invisible power blasts from her hands."
What's to like about the The Jessica Alba Invisible Woman Action Figure or Fantastic 4 Power Blast Invisible Woman Action Figure?
FIRST: The incredibly high articulation. This is especially poignant given the size and thinness of the figure. The Jessica Alba Invisible Woman Action Figure is smaller than most Marvel Legends figures - coming in at just a little over 5 inches. She is definitely one of the finest sculpted Marvel Legends figures ever made.
The 34-24-34 mixed ancestry Alba stands at around 5'5" - which is close enough to Sue Storm's recorded height of 5'6". With her base - which involves a lot of plastic - the Fantastic 4 Power Blast Invisible Woman Action Figure's height returns to a par with the other three members of her team. Marvel or Fox(?) probably wanted to reduce her size so that she would not be on par with the Thing. Still at 5 " she still blends well with other Marvel Legends figures.
The Fantastic 4 Power Blast Invisible Woman Action Figure is one of the few figures that can cross her arms and yes she can kneel:
SECOND: We thing she looks like Jessica Alba - which is quite an accomplishment. There would be those who would argue against it, but to each his own.
What's NOT to like about the The Jessica Alba Invisible Woman Action Figure or Fantastic 4 Power Blast Invisible Woman Action Figure?
FIRST: The Jessica Alba Invisible Woman Action Figure may not be it - it's survived what? Ten years with no incident? - but it looks and feels fragile. Everytime we pose it we keep expecting the thin arms to break off. But we feel that this is more of a myth than anything else. There may not be much plastic involved with her creation, but it is one of the most sturdy creations we've seen. However we have seen incarnations that came with excess plastic flash which resulted in some of the joints gumming up. We may have gotten lucky with the quality of our purchase.
A SECOND: problem we have with the Fantastic 4 Power Blast Invisible Woman Action Figure is her hands. They tend to be too claw like when opened. You have to angle it right so it looks like she's manifesting her powers.
The Jessica Alba Invisible Woman Action Figure or Fantastic 4 Power Blast Invisible Woman Action Figure is still available on Amazon for US$ 24.99 (Roughly PhP 1,174.53 plus shipping). We love Kate Mara, but she couldn't hold a candle to how charming Jessica Alba's Invisible Woman was.
