The Failed Jedi has returned to confront her former master who has fallen to the Dark Side of the Force.
When Anakin Skywalker's failed padawan Ahsoka Tano was revealed to be the mysterious contact of the Rebels in the 1st season of Star Wars Rebels, their was a collective gasp heard worldwide as her return filled our minds with a plethora of questions:
Where has she been? What happened to her during Order 66? Is this why she rebuilt her lightsabers? Why is she using a curved design? Has she been hanging out with the failed Sith Ventress?
And of course: What will happen when she finally confronts her former Master?
We've already seen how shocked she was when she ascertained the identity of Darth Vader in Star Wars Rebels Season 2's "Siege of Lothal" And we know that the juvenile Ahsoka Tano has stood her ground against the likes of General Grievous and Asajj Ventress. So, 13 years later, the adult Ahsoka has to know that if there's anyone who can hope to challenge Anakin Skywalker, ow Darth Vader, it's her.
This does not bode well for her.
We're more than willing to bet Ahsoka Tano meets her end at the hands of Darth Vader: further destroying the identity of Anakin Skywalker - leaving only his old Master Obi-Wan Kenobi.
The Star Wars Rebels Ahsoka Tano and Darth Vader 2-pack's blister card reads: "Darth Vader: Intent on eliminating the scattered survivors of the Jedi Order, Darth Vader ruthlessly hunts them down across the galaxy. Ahsoka Tano: Anakin Skywalker's apprentice left the Jedi Order before it was destroyed during the Great Jedi Purge, but the truth of her fate remains unknown." - What we said.
What's NOT to like about the Star Wars Rebels Ahsoka Tano and Darth Vader 2-pack?
Let's get the big white-elephant out of the way first - FIRST: 5 points of articulation!!!! WTF!!!!! Disney/Hasbro gave one of the most graceful fighters - Ahsoka Tano - five points of articulation. Two very iconic characters in the Star Wars Universe cannot move.
We understand that 5POA for troop builders - extras that we need to fill up our AT-AT's or Turbo Tanks. But not for major characters - especially when we want to see these two duke it out (For the last time hopefully).
Here is the limit of Ahsoka Tano's movement:
Here is the limit of Darth Vader's movement:
SECOND: The 5POA is also a disappointment considering the high level of detailing. Both are incredible representations of their Star Wars Rebels counterparts. However, check out the hooks on Ahsoka's hips where her lightsabers should be hung: A) No you can't hang her lighsabers on those hooks, and; B) None of their lightsabers blades come off so the point is moot.
THIRD: Their gimmicks - which are really childish. Darth Vader comes with a push-activated flying force disc and Ahsoka Tano comes with a lightsaber twirl:
What's to like about the Star Wars Rebels Ahsoka Tano and Darth Vader 2-pack?
FIRST: Their facial sculpts - Ahsoka Tano's in particular. There's a certain resignation in her face. A sad acceptance that comes with knowing who Anakin Skywalker has become and what may be her eventual fate:
While the red glare of Darth Vader conveys the burning hatred he may have inside for one of the last reminders of his past.
FIRST: The best thing though about the Star Wars Rebels Ahsoka Tano and Darth Vader 2-pack is Ahsoka Tano's head. Remember the Star Wars Clone Wars Vintage Edition Ahsoka Tano? Ahsoka is a Tortuga. Her age is manifested by the length of her lekku and the prominence of her horns. But note how the Vintage Edition Ahsoka Tano is taller than the Star Wars Rebels Ahsoka Tano. In fact our new Ahsoka Tano's head seems waaay too big for her body.
So.
Head swap.
But not quite worth the PhP 1,196.75 (US$ 25.47) that it's retailing for locally. The Star Wars Revels Ahsoka Tano and Darth Vader two-pack is available on Amazon for US$ 14.99 (Roughly PhP 704 plus shipping.) That sounds like a better price for the head of Ahsoka Tano.
