We didn't call it a KO Lego this time because - as of this writing - we could not find a legitimate Lego version that this Power Armor copied - which is quite different from the KO Lego Tumbler that you can see here.
So for now we're classifying this as an original design. Anyway we really love it because you can use it to help envision a world where the Avengers failed to stop Ultron from triggering global extinction. The few surviving Avengers find themselves hard-pressed to turn back the tide of a world made of metal.
So Tony Stark suggests powering up the surviving Avengers: Thor, Bruce Banner (Who lost his Hulk powers trying to stop the fall of Sokovia) and Captain America - whose Shield was destroyed in the fall of Sokovia.
Tony Stark builds a power armor for Captain America that gives him 400x his original durability, while providing him with additional firepower, the ability to fly or zoom around on street level, and a new shield built from the remains of Ultron Prime - making Captain America a prime target for Ultron who wants his Prime body back
Flying out from their secret base, the power-armored Avengers fight on to avenge a world that they failed to save.
Isn't the joy of having no backstory behind a toy fun?
Anyway, the box of the Heroes Assemble Lego Captain America Power Armor does not say much. It says "BBLOW!!!" So we figure that's license enough to have fun with the back-story.
The set comes with everything you see here: Lego Captain America, an Ultron drone, Captain America's Power Armor, and a base/dock for the Power Armor.
What's to like about the Heroes Assemble Lego version of a Power Armor for the Avengers Age of Ultron Captain America?
FIRST: The detailing! As mentioned above, the Power Armor provides Lego Captain America with 400X more power. You can clearly see it on the bio-monitor that monitors Captain America.
And as you ca see he's busy searching for Ultron activity. Note how the translucent pieces make the keyboard look like it's glowing.
That's just his rotating workstation. Here he is parked next to his powered-down armor:
SECOND: The play-ability. There are no stairs to get into the armor unlike the HALO Mantis armor, so instead of keeping the armor upright, we envisioned it hulked down so that Captain America can easily clamber into it.
There aren't that many gimmicks. Aside from the cockpit, arm, leg and hand articulation, the Lego Captain America Power Armor comes with two push projectiles on its right hand, an articulated booster rocket on the back and articulated wings:
Captain America fits snugly inside:
Ultron is a pretty standard little Lego character. We beefed him up with hand-cannon glows and added boosters to his feet:
The Heroes Assemble Lego version of a Power Armor for the Avengers Age of Ultron Captain America's articulation is a bit limited as its limbs are kinda cartoonishly and intentionally stubby and his torso is big, but it was still a joy to pose:
What's to like about the Heroes Assemble Lego version of a Power Armor for the Avengers Age of Ultron Captain America?
FIRST: Well we already talked about the stubbiness. Nothing we can do about that though as this was clearly meant for a younger audience. This is not a toy you take seriously. Just go with it if you want to.
SECOND: The quality. Unfortunately the locking of the blocks is not as good as we would like it to be. During the shoot some of the blocks became looser and looser. Eventually we had to lock some of the pieces in place with blue-tack. One of these days, if we find the time, we will replace as much as we can with original spare Lego pieces.
This particular Heroes Assemble Lego version of a Power Armor for the Avengers Age of Ultron Captain America was purchased for PhP 460 (Roughly US$ 9.78) from the black markets of Cubao here in the Philippines. It is not available on Amazon.
