Marvel Legends Colossus - Warlock Wave

 "Get up and I shall knock you down once more."

The Marvel Legend Colossus - Warlock Wave  - is a wonderfully sculpted modern rendition of the X-Men's strongman.

We're big fans of the Mighty Colossus. We're not really fond of how Marvel writes him, but we love the X-Men's Knight in literal shining armor.

We've been reading comic books since 1986 and we cannot recall Piotr sporting a beard. The closest was the 5 o'clock shadow that he sported when - after a trip through the Siege Perilious - Piotr was snogging a really hot looking Calisto and living as a rather successful artist in New York, and; following the events of AvX, but nothing as robust as this beard.

So our interest was piqued when Humberto Ramos (Impulse, The Amazing Spider-Man) created a bearded literal Russian Bear of a Colossus for the Extraordinary X-Men.

He's since gone back to his clean shaven look.


The Marvel Legends Colossus - Warlock Series blister pack reads "Colossus transforms his body into armored steel to become a nearly indestructible force in combat." We purchased this particular Colossus loose and he didn't come with the Warlock BAF parts, but he did come with the alternative head. He bears the modern X-Men costume that debuted in Uncanny X-Men #500 - which he actually no longer wears.

WHAT'S TO LIKE ABOUT THE MARVEL LEGENDS COLOSSUS - WARLOCK SERIES  - ACTION FIGURE?

FIRST: Colossus is big! He's still off-scale with regard to the rest of the X-Men - unlike say the new Kitty Pryde  - but he's quite massive. We have a feeling that he was originally meant to be taller. Then budget cuts came in. You can tell by the fact that his arms are as wide as the Marvel Select Colossus' arms. His feet are not that far behind either. And look at that neck! Eventually someone will create a custom merging the two. The Marvel Legends Warlock Series Colossus is also leaner and taller than his original Marvel Legends incarnation.

You are big Tovarisch!

Sadly he doesn't match Humberto Ramos' vision for him. This is, as mentioned, the modern-age Colossus body. 

SECOND: Colossus' articulation is pretty decent, and despite being heavy, the wide feet provide a solid Stable base for poses. Eventually we used a base, but in general we probably could have done without one.   

"I am strong like a bull in China shop!"

Yes Colossus can kneel with some difficulty:

THIRD: The Marvel Legends Warlock Wave Colossus looks great with his fellow X-Men. Though personally the Marvel Select Colossus is still the best match height-wise.

WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE ABOUT THE MARVEL LEGENDS COLOSSUS - WARLOCK SERIES  - ACTION FIGURE?

FIRST: With the beard he kinda looks like Sinon Loresca - the "King of Catwalk" - you might not want to google that.

SECOND: This has never been one of the best or most flattering uniforms for Colossus - soooo personally it's a great figure, but his uniform is... meh.

 THIRD: There's a problem with Colossus' eyeliner when shot from below:

The Marvel Legends Warlock Wave Colossus is available on Amazon for US$ 28.98 (Roughly PhP 1,449 plus shipping). It's still a wonderful upgrade to the original Marvel Legends Colossus, but it's no Marvel Select Colossus.

And we really dig the beard.
