This is our 3rd review involving the Combiner Wars Optimus Prime. All three past reviews involved complaints about how unstable, unsightly and ungainly his hip area was.

So when the Perfect Combiner PC-08 upgrade came out in the market, we had to have it for Optimus

The Perfect Effect PC-08 Upgrade for the Transformers Combiner Wars Optimus Prime does not say much about the product but does come with instructions on the back panel.

No construction is required other than replacing Optimus Prime's lower torso plate - which is a break-away piece - and attaching the PC-08 lower torso/back plate.

The hands and feet are pegged on just like the regular hands and feet of Optimus Maximus.

WHAT'S TO LIKE ABOUT THE COMBINER WARS OPTIMUS PRIME PERFECT COMBINER PC-08 ARMOR UPGRADE?

FIRST: He now has a solid lower torso. We've come a long way from the original lower-torso configuration for the Transformers Combiner Wars Optimus Prime that we're pretty much sure everybody hated.

It really did look like someone kicked him in the groin and his balls never went back down.

The PC-08 gives Optimus Maximus a more-or less comic book accurate lower torso, and removes that really unsightly lower torso:

Here's the Reprolabel and PC-08  enhanced Transformers Combiner Wars Optimus Maximus next to an un-enhanced Grand Scourge with an adjusted lower torso:

We were initially worried that the wider hip stance of the PC-08 upgraded Optimus Maximus would lead to one that was shorter than a simple Hand and Foot enhanced Perfect Combiner enhanced Grand Scourge, but we need not have worried as the height difference is negligible - it really depends upon how you form his lower torso:

SECOND: The new Perfect Combiner PC-08 armor upgrade for Optimus Prime also gives Optimus Maximus a new solid back

So Optimus Maximus is far more solid. Plus now he has a place where he can store weapons - such as Grand Scourge's blade:

THIRD: Despite  having his legs permanently spread, his articulation is not as hampered as we thought it would be. Optimus Maximus can still kneel with the PC-08 upgrade attached.

FOURTH:  The Transformers Combiner Wars Optimus Prime now has wings - and a jet booster:

WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE ABOUT THE COMBINER WARS OPTIMUS PRIME PERFECT COMBINER PC-08 ARMOR UPGRADE?

FIRST: The Transformers Perfect Combiner PC-08 armor upgrade permanently leaves Optimus Maximus' legs open wide. He definitely looks better - almost like he was really intended to be - so we suppose that the inability to keep his legs closed is a small price to pay.

SECOND: In truck mode, the Transformers Perfect Combiner PC-08 armor upgrade has a bit of a conflict with the Transformers Combiner Wars Optimus Prime. But this could just be us being unable to figure out how to transform him properly. As you can see in the picture below, Prime's legs are not quite level with his body, nor are they locked in place against his cab.

Also, the smokestacks at the back look weird. It looks like you can turn them - maybe we have to loosen them, but as of this writing they're stuck in place.
