GI Joe Rise of Cobra ROC Dialtone Quick Review

Welcome to a quick review of the Toys R'Us Exclusive GI Joe Rise of Cobra Dialtone.

Dialtone is a part of a five-action figure troop building pack that includes movie variants of Footloose, Law & Order, Repeater, and Zartan.

With the exception of Zartan, none of them appeared in either movie but Dialtone does make an appearance in the GI Joe The Rise of Cobra video-game - the same game where Agent Helix makes an appearance - the character from where Dialtone here gets her head.

Her blister card states that her name is Jill S. Morelli and the video-game identifies her as the sister of "Jack S. Morelli" - the original Dialtone. They've been identified as brother and sister.

You'd think that the GI Joes would have another code-name available for her. Do people today even know what a dial-tone is?

The GI Joe Rise of Cobra ROC Dialtone's blister card reads: "Dialtone is a communications specialist for the G.I. Joe Team. She is an expert at combat communications and provides the team with the latest technology to ensure instant, reliable contact and the prevention of electronic attack and sabotage." All from the safety of her laptop.

She comes armed with a combat laptop - where she updates her Facebook status from, and an 820 Selective-fire, Long Range fully automatic assault rifle.

What's to like about the GI Joe Rise of Cobra ROC Dialtone action figure?

Here's what we like about Dialtone:

• It's an "Okay" figure. Toys R'Us marketed the set as a troop builder and that's exactly what Dialtone is. Even her hair is generic enough to have 2 or 3 of the women with similar hair - or you can color them. Her hair though, if we're right, violates army regulations as it covers her eyes. 
• Of course you can just buy custom 3rd party heads out there, this is a good enough body.
• Articulation is average for a GI Joe figure. Dialtone doesn't have the new wrist joints - which is to be expected since this is a repurposed ROC Cover Girl body which was released prior to the Pursuit of Cobra line when the new wrists were introduced. 
• Dialtone can kneel
• Dialtone can look down the barrel of her gun.

What's NOT to like about the GI Joe Rise of Cobra ROC Dialtone action figure?

Here's what we don't like about Dialtone:

• Damn she's butt ugly! But not as ugly as Cover-Girl.
• Dialtone doesn't really have any real communications gear - other than her laptop. Her blister card says she's a field operative, but really this action figure screams desk-jockey.

Can Facebook be used in combat?
