Because overthrowing foreign government requires new threads |
This is the uniform that Captain America wore when he was recruited by Nick Fury - along with Wolverine, Daredevil, Spider-Man, Luke Cage, Black Widow and Daisy "Quake" Johnson - off on a mission to overthrow Latveria's then rightful ruler, Prime Minister Lucia von Bardas.
Unfortunately Nick Fury wiped their memories of the mission following their attack on Latveria - which pisses off the heroes later when they find out.
Because of this private war, Nick Fury would lose his post as the head of SHIELD. Secret War was a five issue comic book series that ran from 2004-2005, written by Brian Michael Bendis and brought to life by Artist Gabriele Dell'Otto)
MORE AFTER THE JUMP
The current Captain America costume seems to draw inspiration from his Secret War costume design:
The Marvel Legends Secret War Captain America's blister pack simply reads "Recruited by Nick Fury for an undercover mission, Captain America serves S.H.I.E.L.D. in the pursuit of justice"
Secret War Captain America |
- Excellent Articulation
- Great detailing. We're particular fond of:
- The red pin-striping on his boots and gloves
- That nice belt
- The American flag on his left shoulder (Because if you secretly invade a foreign country, they should know where you come from) - though we seem to recall that it should be on his right shoulder and reversed so as to appear always moving forward, not his left.
- The ability to peg his shield to his back
- Nice reuse of the Red Guardian mold.
- Throwing shield gimmick:
Here's Cap posing for you:
Captain America's articulation - yes he can kneel:
The shield throwing gimmick proves what Spider-Man said about the shield not following the laws of physics at all:
That's a mug only a mother could love |
- He's ugly. Really ugly. We can imagine what he would look like without the mask and we'd recommed that he never remove it.
- Secret War Captain America's shield is tiny for his frame. Anyone who would just shoot around him to stop him while he's blocking. In fact the Marvel Legends movie series Captain America's shield is bigger than the disc that this particular Captain America uses. Note that the movie Civil War Cap is shorter than the Secret War Cap.
- What's with his hands? Secret War Captain America comes with two open hands that look like they're grasping something, but don't. He can't even grip the edge of his shield because his thumbs are locked to his fingers forming an "O"
Note the height difference and the shield size difference |
