Transformers Mini-Con Assault Team:Centuritron |
To be perfectly honest, when Hasbro released the Mini-Con Assault team, we assumed that, yes while they could be combined to form Centuritron, they could be used as building blocks to build even bigger Transformers.
Looking back, yeah that was a bit naive, but they were practically unstoppable in the comic books because they could combine.
Alas they cannot and all we have is this tiny Mini-con made out of three even smaller Mini-cons - though actually they aren't Mini-Cons, they're Ammonites - a race of omnicombinational beings that have the power to combine with other Ammonites. Now imagine 70Billion of them coming to attack you.
Sadly they all exploded.
MORE AFTER THE JUMP
The Transformers Mini-Con Assault Team is comprised of three tiny little Mini-Cons/Ammonites. The three are: Windshear (Forms an attack Helicopter), Heavytread (Forms a tank) and Runway (Forms a jet)
Their blister card reads: "When you need a target reduced to a smoldering heap of scrap metal, the Mini-con Assault Team has the power to get it done.. Their combined Centuritron mode is an unstoppable unit of pure destructive force, a walking weapon said to have the power of 100 warriors"
Whether or not that's actually true is pretty much unknown.
WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE ABOUT THE TRANSFORMERS MINI-CON ASSAULT TEAM?
Here's what we really don't like about Centuritron:
- Even combined, he's shorter than most deluxe sized transformers.
- The locks that keep him combined aren't that strong and he tends to fall apart quite easily.
- Articulation is poor. The ball joints help but Centuritron cannot twist at the waist, and cannot kneel. His head is either really stuck or cannot be turned.
- What little articulation he has is lost on the clunkiness of the figure.
- That gun is really big.
Here're more pictures of Centuritron and the extent of his articulation:
We also don't like Heavytread:
- Robot mode can barely move and he easily splits into two;
- No leg articulation
- Comes with a huge gun that he can barely carry
- Head reminds us of Kenny from South Park
- Transforms into a tank with a turret that can't swivel - now while such tanks do exist in the real world, personally we think that they're dumb ideas.
Lastly we don't like how large Windshear's gun is in helicopter mode, it's just wrong:
WHAT'S TO LIKE ABOUT THE TRANSFORMERS MINI-CON ASSAULT TEAM?
Centuritron is a nice looking Transformer:
Runway and Windshear are great looking Mini-cons/Ammonites with decent levels of articulation, and great designs for robots that are so small.
Here's Runway:
Here's Windshear:
The Transformers Mini-Con Assault Team is available on Amazon for US$ 19.48 (Roughly PhP 974 plus shipping).
Could be great as an army build figure.
